AliDeal✘ Not a client
Hi, I am sometimes based in Norfolk, sometimes Suffolk, have suffered for nearly 30 years, am looking at alternate remedies at the moment as the prescription meds are messing with my head – excuse the pun – will let all know if anything comes of my investigations.
AliDeal✘ Not a clientI have been using Coffea (a homeopathic remedy) for the last 4 weeks, I am still using my prescription sleeping tablets (Zopiclone), but am finding that after 20 years I am tired of the hang-over effect it has the next day, I also suffer from depression, common side effect of insomnia – so I am seeing a hemeopath next week to see if they can work out a specific remedy for me – I am far to young to be feeling this tired and drained – so here is hoping, I will feedback.
January 11, 2012 at 8:50 pm in reply to: Coffea – my journey with a homeopath insomnia remedy #13466AliDeal✘ Not a clientI contacted a homeopath, a company in the UK from whom I had received a reference from a very credible person, I am not into hype and while I believe alternate medicine and homeopathy has its place, I had found alternative meds did not work for me, however, after a particularly bad night with another incredible headache in the morning, I knew I had to take things into hand, so I called them, they recommended Coffea and I made the decision to try it – so far I am pleased with the results.
I might add, I have had a long history of prescription meds, long story which I need not share, but at one stage I was taking Limictum (for temporaral lobe epilepsy) in the morning to get my head together, tranquilisers during the day to keep me together and sleeping tablets to sleep – I could not take the drugs anymore, so slowly removed all, except the sleeping tabs from my life. I might add here that I had even been prescribed Rhipmol (not sure of the spelling, but the date drug) and that did not help me sleep, so I was a little reluctant not to take a schedule drug to sleep. Worthwhile doing some research Martin.
January 10, 2012 at 7:11 pm in reply to: Coffea – my journey with a homeopath insomnia remedy #13464AliDeal✘ Not a clientSo, here is the thing, I am still taking my sleeping tablets, zopiclone 7.5mg – but I am also taking the Coffea, the interesting point here, is no headaches (which I usually get with this particular tablet), I am more alert (even though I am waking up two to three times a night) and I am organised, progressive and positive, these are usually absent when I am just taking the meds – so, it may all be in the mind, a great contributing factor to sleeplessness, but I am feeling rather great under circumstances – could it be the Coffea?
AliDeal✘ Not a clientHello and welcome – I have seen the name Ambien a few times on this site, I am not familiar with this drug, can you please tell me more about it? Thanks and good luck
AliDeal✘ Not a clientSo, how am I doing on my little journey, well, like all journeys, I have had a few hiccups alone the way, last night I took 7.5mg of zipiclone with my two Coffea, interesting things is that I am dreaming, which never happens when I take meds, so I am thinking that the Coffea does slow down the brainwaves, now all I need to do is cut back on the meds again, I am feeling rather well though, same meds, less hangover effect – not sure what this means, but I am from Africa, we rarely give up – when I talk about The Road Less Traveled, I am not kidding, a good book, by the way – Scott Peck, it gives some insight to the workings of our complicated brains and emotions. Very inspirational book.
AliDeal✘ Not a clientFirstly, congratulations on the birth of your baby, a life changing experience that would keep anyone up wondering how things are going to turn out for this very precious life. Having suffered from insomnia for 30 years, I know how frustrating it is when you can't sleep, and even more so when others give us “good” advice, so what I would like to recommend is a little caution.
Your life has changed dramatically, you are know responsible for another little life, this and the baby waking up during the night can seriously disrupt your sleeping and cause insomnia, if you can avoid taking sleeping tablets, that would be a good choice as one can become dependent upon them and normal sleeping patterns are harder to re-establish, give it a few more weeks – you could also consider taking Rescue Drops, I have found that they do work in stressful situations.
Good luck!!

January 6, 2012 at 12:28 pm in reply to: Coffea – my journey with a homeopath insomnia remedy #13461AliDeal✘ Not a clientI eventually fell asleep, alarm went off at 8:00a.m., switched it off and went back to sleep, fortunately i am not working today, but need to get my schedule on track. I feel as though I let myself down by taking the zopiclone – will try again tonight,
AliDeal✘ Not a clientHi Caz, stress and mixed meds is an absolutely killer, excuse the pun, what I try and do for the stress is have copious To Do Lists!, this only works to a degree if you tick of things on the list, if not, you lie away at night beating yourself up because I did not cross of things, especially when it comes to family and work, my children are still in SA and they worry me always – at the age when they think they know everything, anyway, when I am running on track with my To Do List, my active mind does slow down a little. With meds, I learn as much as possible about them and then tell the doctors what I want – I also have very good doctors in South Africa, so when I need an update, I will contact the doctors or even pharmacists back home (they are not governed by the government, all private so are sometimes more accurate in the prescriptions. Let me see how today goes, I ended up waking up late, which throws my day.
Take care

AliDeal✘ Not a clientOk, it is now 3:00a.m. I have taken my sugar Coffea pills and broke down and took 7.5mg of zopiclone and dang, I am not sleeping, I hope this relationship with Coffea is not going to be short and sweet, excuse the pun – so I am thinking that perhaps I should just push through until tomorrow and start again, or should I just lie in bed, getting some rest if not some sleep, let me have another cup of tea and make that decision after the refreshing drink. I am little tired, but not near sleeping

I enjoyed reading your post. I too don't sleep well and I live in Scotland…yes we
Scottish lassies can be wicked! LOL!
Reading the replies there does seem to be a correlation building between the stories doesn't there. From what I can gleam everyone here seems to be an active creative person, with a
decent intellect. The second thing i've noticed is that everyone seems to have a more stressful existence than what might be deemed “normal”!
My husband is Canadian. He moved here 20 years ago (we met at uni) and he tells me all the time that “The British are not a logical people…and how on earth did you guys ever win a war!”. It's funny to hear from other people about our mad methods and ways! I know what you mean about our NHS service. There's no continuity of medicine brands being dished out.
I hope you have a great day today!

Hi Caz, NHS scares me, I have taken a sabbatical from the media industry and have been working with the mentally and physically challenged for the past year, all rely on NHS and when I see what has been prescribed to my clients and the amount of conflicting information we have, it amazes me that some of the are still alive and the left hand doctor has absolutely no idea of what the right doctor is doing, let us not had in the DN, or resident nurse, or urologist, well I can go on and on, I have never seen such a blatant waste of money in my life. Mmm…. I am thinking a good complaining session at 3a.m. is not a bad idea :0}
AliDeal✘ Not a client'annie wrote on '04:Hello Alli, welcome! From one insomniac to another I must commend you on your very lovely introduction. When I am not sleeping “normal”, I can barely finish a sentence when I am typing or texting. So I was impressed with your words! I am 48, female and have had this problem on and off for a few years. And I couldn't agree more with you regarding people who dont have this problem but give you useless tips. You will find many at the webiste who care and you will find comfort knowing you are not alone. Nice to meet you and here is wishing you better nights soon.
Thanks Annie, I had a really good day, but, that word again, but it is now 3:00a.m. and I am not sleeping, took two Coffea, my new wonder hope and 7.5mg zopiclone and dang, I am still awake, so I am thinking it is probably best just to go through the night and start again tomorrow, fortunately I am not working over the next few days so I slightly messed sleeping pattern will not be that bad, but would need to be sorted by the week-end when I start working again – I can even remember what normal sleep is, but the good news, here I am chatting to my fellow warriors (or is that worriers) and we cheer each other up. I will drink a toast to a good nights sleep (oppss, my spelling is down the toilet) – I am yawning away, but no lights out 🙂
January 4, 2012 at 12:21 pm in reply to: Coffea – my journey with a homeopath insomnia remedy #13459AliDeal✘ Not a clientMmm………. 2 sugar Coffea and 7.5mg of zipiclone, slept relatively well, no headache – but disappointed I needed the meds – was working and a little agigated, so this is why I took the meds – still in a light-hearted mood. This is good.
January 3, 2012 at 11:50 am in reply to: Coffea – my journey with a homeopath insomnia remedy #13458AliDeal✘ Not a clientI am very analytical, downside of the writer, also the poet, and of course I think to much – with lots of time. But I always try and present information in the way that I want to read it, I like information. So last night, very tired, I took two sugar pills, Coffea, under my tongue, I also took half a Zopiclone, I really needed to sleep, it took awhile for me to fall asleep and I did wake up regularly during the night, but I was not stressed in any way, my mind was calm, and I dreamed, this is a wonderful thing for me, as when you take sleeping tablets, one often does not dream, our braim is knocked out, so probably not resting well. So, far I have to say my experience with Coffea is being rather pleasant, I am not getting the 8 hours sleep that I would like, but my mind is calmer, I am feeling less stressed and positive. Let's see how long I can last on limited sleep and limited prescription medication – the goal, a clear mind, motivated, light-hearted and generally happy – big goal – maybe, but I am a big thinker kinda of person.
AliDeal✘ Not a clientHi Matt, welcome to this interesting group, just sharing sometimes makes things easier, only if you sharing with another insomniac of course, those sleepers, have no idea – hope we can find some solutions – if nothing else, the group is motivating me to find solutions – I am one of those people full of advice and inspiration for others – so where I can help I do – maybe this is what keeps me up at night, amongst another things, or course.
