Thanks to you both for chiming in and sharing your experiences, it really helps!
Grace, I too have gut issues when in the hyperarousal state. And go to Barre classes that I love as well!
I am working with a psychiatrist and a psychologist along with this program. I was told I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) as well as the chronic insomnia. Although I believe the later is the cause of the anxiety. They seem to be two sides of the same coin.It helps to not feel so alone hearing your feedback.
Rooting for us all!
Best,
AlyAlya11✘ Not a clientHi Kriskin,
Thank you for your kind words of support!
I’d love to hear what you’ve found helpful when you are experiencing this? I’m glad to hear things are getting better for you as well!
Did you have many sleepless nights? Were you on a sleep medication at all in your journey?
Thanks again for your encouragement!
AlyAlya11✘ Not a clientHi Martin,
It was more challenging last night I’ll be honest.
I practiced the AWAKE exercise several times. I Haven’t had many net zero hour nights so it wasn’t easy.
But I was determined to have a productive day and not let the insomnia bully win! And I did have a productive day. So there’s that. Trying to go into this evening knowing I have no control over sleep or my thoughts/feelings.
Thanks Martin!Aly
Alya11✘ Not a clientI can relate to all of this David! How to release effort and not get tangled up in the struggle
(trying to solve the problem) is such a challenge.
I had a sleepless night last night and it makes it harder to see clearly or know there’s light ahead.
AlyAlya11✘ Not a clientI’m going through the same thing. I had my first win (after a rough night of only 2hours) and a good night without meds and was so encouraged but the next night (last night) I didn’t sleep at all, total sleepless night. So hard.
Alya11✘ Not a clientHi Martin!
As far as the medication yes I definitely want to stop taking it and working on a plan but hoping to deal with some of struggle and anxiety within this course so I can release the medication with more ease.
Yes, The yoga nidra practice is absolutely aligned with my values (I’m a yoga teacher) and I find it very beneficial. So thanks for addressing that!
As far as getting out of bed I only do so when I’m laying there for a long period not sleeping and the anxiety and panic gets very uncomfortable. So listening to your podcasts I’ve been hearing about stimulus control and getting out of bed if it’s not feeling good?
Thanks for your response and helpful information!
AlyAlya11✘ Not a clientUgh! I am finding in this first week I am sleeping less and have more anxiety about the sleep window and getting out of bed when I can’t go back to sleep. I’m finding it’s heightened my anxiety and conditioned hyperarousal and have had a string of rough nights.
Has anyone else experienced this or similar? -
