Hello Alli, welcome! From one insomniac to another I must commend you on your very lovely introduction. When I am not sleeping “normal”, I can barely finish a sentence when I am typing or texting. So I was impressed with your words! I am 48, female and have had this problem on and off for a few years. And I couldn't agree more with you regarding people who dont have this problem but give you useless tips. You will find many at the webiste who care and you will find comfort knowing you are not alone. Nice to meet you and here is wishing you better nights soon.

Any feedback on this would be great
Now that I'm fully aware of my problem I've been noticing when I wake up after 3 hours or so I'm usually sweating a little bit.. Is this normal based on phase I'm in or do you think there is a medical condition going on and this is a symptom along with the insomnia?
Also,
I started back at the gym. It's always been there for me.. I've trained since i was young.
Has anybody been able to get better sleep after hard exercise – or will my body just completely deteriorate because I'm not getting the adequate sleep needed to recuperate?
First day back after training hard.. only got 3 hours and then up. 🙁
Not looking good.
Matt
annie t✘ Not a clientHey Bobby, welcome to our club, the one nobody wants to be in! It helps to know you are not alone…when I went thru it the first time, the worst time, I was so comforted to know, at least I am not the only one laying there stressing out over not sleeping! Hang in there…you will get thru this.

Hello…I am sorry to hear your are having sleeping issues but this is a great place to talk with others who can totally relate. I actually took half a xanax last night. I try to reserve it for times when I am really anxious about things like last night. I kind of know when something heavy is on my mind that I won't be able to find my peace as I like to think of it and will not be able to fall asleep. I think if you use it only for those times, you will be fine and not addicted to it. Good luck! Anne

I never thought I'd be able to get to sleep at night in a timely manner, but taking these two together actually help! I was very skeptical. So far it's working and I've been taking them together for about 3 weeks. Is it okay or normal for a doctor to prescribe both at the same time? Is it safe? I don't seem to be having any side effects beyond being very groggy in the morning, and I can't focus my eyes together (I have a slight lazy eye), so I go back to sleep and wake up fine.
Should I be looking for any signs of problems? It's just my anxiety cropping up a little I guess. I don't feel that the doctor has done anything bad by prescribing them together. Do you take two sleeping pills together? How long until it quits working? Thanks!!
Brittany
Hey Brittany, I have never taken that combo of drugs but I have mixed others together…xanax and seqroquel, or xanax and lunesta. Sometimes combining these is the only thing to help and my doctor has prescribed them with the understanding that I can add the other if the one alone is not working. If you feel uncomfortable with this, I would call him and make sure these are ok to mix. Good luck! Glad you are at least getting some sleep!

I fall asleep fine and sleep OK for 4, 5 or 6 hours without a sleeping pill (a little longer with a sleeping pill, Flurazepam, which I can only take a few nights a week). I have tried CBT methods and have been seeing a sleep specialist periodically. He is recommending trying Lexapro. I am getting tired of feeling tired and groggy all the time, and it doesn't seem like I'm going to be able to push past this barrier, so I'm thinking about trying it. He says it will take about 6 weeks to know if it's working for me. Any thoughts?
Hey Jay I am slow to keep up with insomnia land topics but I saw yours and wanted to respond. I have been on Lexapro on and off for about 2 years now. I started at 10 mg then went up to 20 mg a few months ago after my insomnia reared its ugly head again. I think it really helps you initially (after you get thru the first 4 to 6 weeks for it to get in your system) but I question its effectiveness after you have been on it for awhile. It seems like just when I think I have got my sleep issues under control, they pop up for no reasons. Then I have to take something at night to help my fall asleep (lunesta or xanax or seroquel). So with that being said, I still think overall the lexapro is helpful b/c it does seem to help my stay calm when I suffer from a bad night of not sleeping well. But it is not the perfect cure for people like us. Good luck and I hope your sleep improves somehow!

Welcome Charlotte! When i joined Insomnia Land I was going thru another period on not sleeping normally and just trying to navigate this website was frustrating with little sleep to work with! I am still learing my way around the website but it is getting easier. Anyway, hang in there…this is a great place to find support and advice from fellow non sleepers and everybody is very friendly. I just feel better knowing I have this group to turn to and people that will listen and understand. Glad to have you! Annie T
