Definitely Pluto. However, I vastly prefer the Warner Bros. cartoons to the Disney ones, so on that note I will ask: Daffy Duck or Donald Duck?
BobbyP✘ Not a clientBlack, although I know green is supposed to be healthier.
Stick shift or automatic?
BobbyP✘ Not a clientOpen, but only if it's not hot and humid outside, or bitterly cold.
Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?
BobbyP✘ Not a clientI too would love to know if hypnosis has ever worked for anyone. And is it a permanent fix, or do you have to re-do it periodically? 😕
BobbyP✘ Not a clientJust read Daz's statements for coping with anxiety and they sound really, really helpful. I am going to write them down and USE them. Today has been particularly frustrating for me, because I had several good nights of sleep, and then all of a sudden last night I simply could not “shut down.” So today has been very anxiety-ridden for me — and I had been feeling SO good for the past few days. I am staying hopeful for tonight; maybe I'll get back on track. Thanks again, Daz!
BobbyP✘ Not a clientYou know you need more sleep when you accidentally call your boyfriend by your daughter's name! 😮
BobbyP✘ Not a clientI'm just about to start the last Harry Potter book — have also watched the previous movies on DVD, so I hope I can see Parts 1 and 2 of the movie versions of Deathly Hallows soon after I finish the book.
BobbyP✘ Not a clientWelcome, Sazmoc!! This is a wonderful website. I'm pretty new myself but already feel better just KNOWING there are others out there (worldwide!) who are experiencing this same, frustrating thing called insomnia — plus the anxiety and depression and panic that come with it.
I hope you can get your radio show on the air; keep us posted on your progress with that!
BobbyP✘ Not a clientOkay, I'll bravely jump in here. I'm usually not into fantasy/scifi movies, but I decided to watch all three “Lord of the Rings” movies (from Netflix). I just finished the last one — wow, terrific!! And isn't it funny how you'll see an actor in a movie and think “Where have I seen that guy before??” Well, with this movie series, it was one of the hobbits, Merry, who looked oh, so familiar. Looked him up on IMDB website — and he's Charlie, from the “Lost” tv show! What a change in character and looks, but yes, it's him.

Each of them fuels the other – the more I can't sleep, the more anxious I am, and the more anxious I am, the more I can't sleep! It's like my own bed has turned against me and now acts as a trigger for the anxious feelings when I lay down. To be fair, some nights are better than others. Friday and Saturday nights in particular are fine, since I don't have to get up for anything the next day. I've been seeing a sleep psychologist for a couple of weeks, so I'm hoping he will be able to help me. I went to a family practice doctor initially who prescribed me trazodone. It helped a little, but I didn't like how it made me feel the next day. I was also worried about dependency. I was thinking about looking into anti-anxiety medication, but I also worry about dependency, as well as side effects.
I look forward to reading posts from people who get what I'm dealing with! Despite the support I've gotten from family and friends, it's been a lonely couple of months.
Yes, lonely is the word, Kari. But you will really like this group that I've found here at Insomnialand. I've only been a member for a couple of weeks, and already the knowledge that “I am not alone” has helped me so much.
BobbyP✘ Not a clientHas anyone ever gotten hooked on that lovely stuff called Nutella?? I can't even allow a jar in my kitchen — I won't stay away from it. Spread it on Ritz (of course!) and also pretzels — oh, yum. Maybe I'll treat myself soon.

Those without insomnia can never truly know what the condition is like – we want to create a support group of insomniacs, improve awareness and education of the condition and have a little fun at the same time. Lofty ambitions, but that's just how we roll!
I am sure you'll find plenty of support and advice here. I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better.
Have you found any effective ways of improving the quality of your sleep?
Thank you for the warm welcomes from so many people! I'm so glad I found all of you.
I have not found too many “tricks” to improving my sleep, but I am hopeful every night. By the way, I was wondering if others in Insomnialand have the same dread of the upcoming time change as I always do, i.e. we add an hour on that Saturday night (November 5th this year). I always dread it because it means the night is that much longer so I have to try even harder to get through until I can “allow” myself to get up. Looking at the clock is so depressing — “Is it only that time?? I was hoping it was later so I could finally get up!” So that extra hour is only misery for me. Do others feel that way?
BobbyP✘ Not a clientRitz crackers — once I start I can't stop. Oh, and don't put a pint of ice cream in front of me either, especially Oreo Cookies 'n Cream or Starbucks Mocha. Okay, and peanut butter too, straight from the jar, on a big spoon.

It helps to know you are not alone…when I went thru it the first time, the worst time, I was so comforted to know, at least I am not the only one laying there stressing out over not sleeping! Hang in there…you will get thru this.
Thanks so much, Annie! You are giving me a lot of hope.
BobbyP✘ Not a client'xdunlapx' wrote on '25:Since I have insomnia every night I haven't asked my doctor to try xanax. I would be afraid, too. Drugs of any kind can be scary to take especially if they can be addictive. I currently take 2 sleeping pills, Silenor and Ambien CR. I still don't get to sleep usually until 2am-4am and I take my pills around 11 or 11:30pm.
It would be nice to be able to take a pill and go to sleep in a half hour but I don't see that in the cards for me. I think as long as you are careful and keep track of how often you take it and keep an eye on that to make sure you aren't using it more and more it may be fine. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your response. Just knowing that I am not alone in this struggle has really been emotionally helpful to me. I'm glad this website exists!
