    Hi there 😊

Thanks for your post. I also struggle with nighttime awakefulness. Here are mine go-tos.

    – Remember, you are not your thoughts. Just because your mind is active doesn’t mean you have to engage with every thought. Acknowledge them, but let them pass like clouds in the sky.
    – Engage in something enjoyable to make nighttime wakefulness more pleasant. This could be reading a book, listening to calming music or a podcast, or practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation.
    – If you’re feeling anxious and unable to sleep, it’s helpful to get out of bed and engage in a calming activity until you feel sleepy again. This helps reinforce the association between bed and sleep.
    – Know that you’re not alone in experiencing difficulty with sleep. Many people struggle with waking up in the middle of the night, and there are strategies and support available to help manage it.

    Hi Martin,

Thank you very much for your response.

I tend to ‘like’ studies. Because I am so fixated on a certain number of hours, I would really like to see studies that provide evidence, for example, that only five hours of sleep are necessary. That would be very reassuring for me. Or perhaps a study demonstrating that scary diseases like dementia or Alzheimer’s don’t exist in later life. I’m very preoccupied with that… very counterproductive.

Once again, thank you for your response.

    Kind regards,
    Chantal
