Welcome aboard, Dagaz. It's great to have you as a member, and thank you for introducing yourself.

I've not heard a link between electrolyte balance and insomnia before – did you read about that somewhere? If so, it would be great if you could share the source.

I've written about blue light and insomnia on the Insomnia Land blog before; it's the prime suspect when it comes to insomnia and computer use.

It would be interesting to hear how you find that monitor light software over the long term. Perhaps just switching off the computer a couple of hours before bed would be more effective?

Anyway, I'll draw to a close for now. I'm sure you'll find lots of tips, advice and support here – and hopefully you'll have some fun, too. I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better.

Thank you for the welcome, Martin. I hadn't read your blog post. Going to go through the archive for what I've missed. It's very hard for me to stay off the computer in the evening as I'm working on a long-term project that's a little behind schedule but I switching it off earlier is something I'd recommend to those who can afford it.

I did read about the electrolyte issue. It was an article by a doc who related one of his patient's insomnia bout to his drinking abnormal quantity of waters. It was something like 2-3 liters a day. I haven't bookmarked it but I'll try googling for it again.

Seems like a very nice place you have. Looking forward to getting to know you and other members.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not convinced something like this can really help – but anything is worth a try. Do you find that it helps you? How long have you been using it?

It's the third day now and I'm feeling a lot less hyper by the end of the evening. Might be psychosomatic but the red tones in the later hours do appear soothing. It's striking when you switch back by the day light setting.
