I've been off of trazadone for several weeks now, also bouting several viral and bac infections ( i have chronic asthma and gerd as if insomnia wasn't enough! ) I am not sleeping straight through as before, but find little trouble falling back asleep, and so much more alert during the day it's been worth it. Mostly waking up due to cough, or because my sinuses have plugged up. Going to talk to my doctor about getting nose done again…had cautary and outfracture surgery 16 years ago it did a lot of good then, hopefully will work again.
Although off the trazadone, my doc added prilosec for the gerd. Took it about a week, then stopped. We raised the head of the bed about 30 degrees that has helped the coughing some. Just wanted everyone to know i'm still looking for the perfect combination, but doing ok without the trazadone…better, in fact!
deblevey✘ Not a clientHi Nikki from the UK! I've had insomnia problems all my life! Lately I've started a walking program (back story…Im forty lbs over weight, struggle to lose weight due to asthma, diabetes and chronic joint pain. I also take quite a bit of medication.) Back to the walking program. I started at a mile, just an easy 15 blocks in my town, and increased by two blocks each day. I missed 2 days due to a bad cold & cough which affects my breathing, but got right back at it yesterday. I walk every morning, even when I feel as if I haven't had any sleep. I walk briskly. Any faster and i'd be running. I'm up to two miles, and have been able to get to sleep every night except one & i think that night;s issues were due to 'medicine head' as I had added cough & cold medicine to the nightly mix. I have to watch for med interactions all the time. Any way just wanted to say that good advice about exercise I'm always hearing and reading about sure works for me!It's been a few weeks since I started with 20/21 success rate! 😀 Hope this helps!

What medications are you on at the moment? Do they help you sleep? Have you tried any non-pharmaceutical solutions for your insomnia?
I take wellbutrin and Strattera to address my depression and ADD symptoms. I take guanfacine for stress and sleep support. I take trazadone for sleep support. I also take two benedryl at night for allergies and sleep support. I also take 3 mg melatonin. These ensure a good night's sleep almost every night, without which my anxiety symptoms increase, my cognative function decreases and I am a very crabby tabby. Sometimes it's hard to get up in the morning. I have problems with motivation. We (my shrink and I) have done a lot of dosage changes and this seems to work the best.
