Faithlessinsomnia✘ Not a client
Hi burn. It’s nice to meet you!
Thanks for explaining to me what it all means.
I will definitely try Guy Meadows book on ACT. I’d like to see whether it will help me. Deb suggested the same thing.
Thanks again

EmmaFaithlessinsomnia✘ Not a clientHi Miles.
Sorry that you’ve had to go though all of these traumatic experiences.
It seems like you may have some trauma from all of these awful things that you have been through.
These traumas are maybe the reason you are having sleep problems. Could it be that you are experien cing a form of PTSD? From all that you’ve been through? Especially the hurricane!
Your dogs barking is not going to help you get to sleep. Maybe you could put them in another part of the house…….the room farthest from your room?
Regarding your hubbys snoring, could you ask him if he would sleep in another part of your house/ apartment? I’m sure he would oblige as I’m sure he loves you very much.
Lastly have you thought about a short course of sleeping tablets? Only a week’s worth, just so you can get some good, refreshing, restorative sleep? Emma WFaithlessinsomnia✘ Not a clientHi Guy’s
Sorry to seem stupid, but what is ACT? Is it like CBT-I?
Would I be able to try it?
Once again, sorry to sound like a dunce….lol!Emma W
Faithlessinsomnia✘ Not a clientHi Josephine!
I had the same problem as you. Around 4-5 years ago.
I had a stressful experience with a Government Work programme (I’m British) I was unemployed at the time. I was forced to go and look for work at an place called Prospects. We all had to go one to three times a week to look for jobs, or get our benefit money (Welfare)
stopped. I was not sleeping because of this.
I then got a job and started work. I have to add that during the interview for this job I hadn’t slept the night before.
So my first day was not great. Over the coming days I still wasn’t sleeping.
Then my company was to move to North London.
I had to travel four hours to work and back. It was awful!
Over the next 4 months I had to do this, day in, day out……total hell. I have to say that the first day I started this job …..I started hearing voices…..from the sleep deprivation. It was heart and mind breaking! All in all I worked 5 months there.
During those five months I was prescribed Quetiapine (Seraquel) for the voices, and to help me sleep.
In the 5 months I worked there I slept ….you know real sleep, for 7 weeks. 7weeks of real sleep because of the meds. It was a nightmare. Then I fell ill because the voices were still there!
I rang in sick to say I couldn’t come to work one day. …….They sacked me over the phone.
I was glad. I could finally recover at home. I got lot’s of sleep after that. I was finally able to recover!
I was elated! The voices were being kept under control and I could finally sleep normally.
I felt so much better.Faithlessinsomnia✘ Not a clientHi there
Sorry to hear you are going through this.
Do you take sleeping pills to help you get to sleep? If you are, then they might be the cause of the dreams.
I take sleeping pills that make my dreams a bit funky and weird so I thought that might be the reason.
I have had the same thing happen to me a few times, so I know how you feel.
Hope you can resolve it
EmmaFaithlessinsomnia✘ Not a clientThanks Deb, for your reply! I’ll check it out. ☺☺☺
I’ve not heard of these authors before…..but definitely willing to give them a go!
