As for my monitoring of sleep, it would not be observed from the outside because I don’t engage in a physical form of activity but rather I put my mental attention to the fact that I am not asleep and and go on to pay attention to try to sleep. So I try to put focus elsewhere by shifting my attention to my breathing. This sometimes works but not all the time.
I know that this might be a form of sleep effort but I don’t know how to let go of monitoring of sleep.
