Helen✘ Not a client
I'm using Ambien (Zolpidem) 10mg since March. I was on a lower dose last year and had a period of 3 months when I was sleeping ok without medication (although waking about 4 am). My GP says it loses its effectiveness. I try to do without it, but end up taking one every night, but at the moment don't have any choice.
Helen✘ Not a clientI've tried mindfulness which is a type of CBT. Unfortunately it didn't help my insomnia. Any relaxation track that I've tried in the past hasn't helped. At the moment I'm reading Paul Mckenna's 'I can Make You Sleep'. I haven't tried the CD yet, but I will and will report back.

I've been ok for about 3 months, but now it's back, but not as bad. I was prescribed Zolpidem last month and only take it when I'm desperate.
Helen✘ Not a clientClocks go forward in Uk in a week's time on 31st arch. After having slept okay for 3 months since about December last year, I having been having insomnia for about 10 days. Changing seasons certainly affect my sleep pattern.

I had been ok since December 2012 sleeping a few hours without Zolpidem. Although I woke usually about 4 a m. After about 3 months of this insomnia has returned. I have another month's supply of Zolpidem. I'm very happy at the moment and not worrying about anything, so once again I'm putting the insomnia down to change of season as the clocks are about to go forward for spring.

Helen✘ Not a clientI do occasionally suffer from depression. I have been mildly depressed since about December last year and have been taking citalopram, as it helped me a few years ago. I don't know if it's related to the insomnia, but I suspect it is. I recently doubled my dose from 10mg to 20mg. I'm getting better, but it has taken a while. I will stress that it was mild, but lost enthusiasm and was indecisive and procrastinated a lot.
I would agree that insomnia is not being addressed by NHS.

I have been told that you can't be referred to a sleep clinic within the NHS only private. I have been on a mindfulness course and I was very impressed, however I find it very hard to meditate. In the past I've been to a homeopathic practitioner and was eventually prescribed sulphur which worked at the time. Has anyone else had success with sulphur?
