✓ ClientGreat questions Neilson72,
I noticed that if I went to the gym to ride the bike or take a walk after dinner around 730 or 8pm, it helped a lot. The exercise/movement would wake me up for a couple of hours and I could more easily stay awake until 1030pm. Also doing the dishes or cooking and food prepping for the next day helped….but exercise was the best. I also noticed that I slept more soundly after the movement.Hope that helps.

✓ ClientKeep up the good work Paull. Good luck with your sleep routine and other things that may have a difficult component to them.

✓ ClientOne thing I’ve noticed is that I’m looking for things to do. That is so unusual. Typically, I want to preserve my energy and not make too many plans or commitments. I have a history of hating obligations way b/4 my sleep difficulties began. Now with a different mindset, I feel more motivated to invest and commit and try things since I need to fill my time anyways. I don’t want to waste it on tv and the couch. I’d rather be out in the world. Even studying Spanish is more enjoyable at the library than at home.
I’ve also noticed that I’ve continued to have a variety of physical feelings like that blanket of fatigue and the dull headache on certain random days. But it is surprising how quickly those feelings recede to the background or go away altogether once I’m engaged in something meaningful and/or interesting/novel.
The act of investing unlocks everything for me and with the new mindset I don’t have to worry about how I’m going to feel since difficult thoughts and feelings always come up with everything. So I don’t need to try to optimize, strategize or work around the difficult parts of my experience. That is very freeing for me. 🙂
Thanks Martin.

✓ ClientHey Paull, in addition to the activities, I listed, I am now adding in going to the beach once a week with an umbrella and a chair for a few hours at a time. One of my friends goes on Sunday afternoons and that seems like a good idea…one the daytime beachgoers are leaving by 3pm often and so parking opens up and it’s a great way to extend the weekend and make it feel longer.
How about you? What do you like to do with your wakefulness hours?

✓ ClientThank you Martin,
Okay, sounds like I just need to be patient and all of the information I want and questions I have will be revealed and explained in due time. Thank you. For now, I won’t concern myself with how my resting while awake activities might reduce sleep pressure and I will use the AWAKE exercise during the day for difficult physical feelings.I agree that my awareness is expanding and I do love the concept of using my waking hours for things that are meaningful to me.
Onwards.

✓ ClientThank you for the reminder that’s it’s all about letting go of control around sleep.

✓ ClientHi Bronte,
Thanks for your response. That was helpful. I might have missed that part of what to do if you wake up in the middle of the sleep window. I’ve got the idea now. Just stay calm, do relaxing things and enjoy the time awake. If I get sleepy enough to fall back asleep that’s great too.
I appreciate it 🙂
