Thanks, Martin. I have now progressed through the NOW exercises, which are more suitable for daytime and less involved. Also, as I’ve progressed through the course, I’m just plain doing much better! 🙂

    Hi Martin,
Three weeks have gone by since I last posted. Several weeks ago I started working with a mind/body specialist who advised me to stop trying to fix the restless legs (no more marching) and to just let it go and be with it, even if that involved a few sleepless nights.

Thanks to your encouragement that Sleep is just going to happen if it needs to, I got up the courage to try this. It was as bad as I imagined it might be the first night, but I survived and the restless legs have gotten better! Three weeks into this, the restless legs are no longer acting up every night, and when they do, it’s not with the intensity they were at before. I have every confidence that this is the way out!

With that and with following the sleep program, my sleep has started to improve as well – no more waking up every 1 1/2 hours most nights anymore! Things are finally moving in a positive direction!

Well, it doesn’t feel very workable to observe, because it gets very painful (an 8 out of 10, pain wise). Do you think I need to bite the bullet and do more of this?

By responding “less negatively” to the leg twitches, I mean that I am trying to just curiously observe them for awhile before I get up and “nonchalantly” march around to get them to go away. But so far, it isn’t working. ☹️

Hi Martin, thank you for your response! After exhausting medical causes, I am starting to work with a mindbody coach so that I do respond less negatively to the leg twitches. Since there is a definite tie-in with my insomnia, I’m hoping that improving my sleep will also lessen the twitches. But I don’t want to put pressure on my sleeping – that always backfires! Have you heard of anything like this before?
