I think my problem is I haven’t mastered the acceptance yet and letting go of the control. I feel like whatever I do during wakefulness is with the intention of falling asleep even though I try to tell myself that it’s not. Therefore my brain still perceives it as a threat and I remain hyperaroused. Any specific tips or advice from those who have mastered that skill?
Otherwise despite 5 sleepless nights I am still functional at work and enjoying my days but the fatigue and anxiety is creeping up
Thank you both for your replies! It’s a good reminder of notions that I already knew! I feel like when I have a good stretch of insomnia free nights it’s almost as if I forget the fundamental principle that sleep cannot be controlled and these relapses are gentle reminders! In fact we should not call difficult nights relapses as the term relapse usually applies to something that has previously been cured! I think from now on I will call these nights fluctuations or a normal variation of sleep!
