Mau✘ Not a client
Thanks Craig.
Mau✘ Not a clientThanks Owl! I was on anti depressant meds for awhile. I did a slow taper and have been off 6 months. I however still suffer w.d symptoms peridoically! It's an experience I wish on no one, and will NEVER take a drug like these again! i agree, they work for some people but I had nothing but difficulty for a year.
The anxiety surfaces and all the “old scary” feelings return. I hope some day to feel myself again. Many thanks for your feedback ~ appreciate.
Mau✘ Not a clientThanks Martin, the voice of reason!!
Mau✘ Not a clientIf I'm not anxious, melatonin helps. I however, can't take more than 5 mg or it depresses me. My friend takes 10 mg., and it doesn't bother her. Melatonin is a natural hormone that is supposedly lacking when one can't sleep. You could google all the info on it. I'm presently taking mellodyn I buy on line. it's comprised of valerian, passionflower, lemon balm and only 3 mg of melatonin. I'm down to 75mg from 150 mg of the anti depressant I was put on for SAD. I feel much better but it's still creating insomnia. There's side effects on these drugs going on and coming off. I'm 67 years old, my first time ever on A.D.'s and I'm not impressed.
Mau✘ Not a clientI know one mellodyn has 3 mg of melatonin. I take 2 sometimes so that is 6mg. This maybe is why it works well for me. It also contains valerian and passion flower, which are supposed to promote sleep. It works for me this is why I've stuck with it. I live in Canada so have to pay shipping charges. I don't believe you have to in the U.S.
Mau✘ Not a clientI purchased the mellodyn at BioNeurix, but it can also be purchased at Amazon. I go with the cheapest price I can find on the net! I take one or two. I'm still having insomnia from the zoloft, maybe a further decrease with help. I take two most nights. It's trail and error, but find it is very relaxing. let me know how you make out.
Mau✘ Not a clientI have been diagnosed with SAD also. My sleep only worsens if the SAD contributes to anxiety and depression. This usually hits in Nov. or Feb. I had a difficult time when living in Vancouver, as it rains the entire winter.
Mau✘ Not a clientThanks Martin appreciate your feedback. Thanks also for the link. They do look like competitive products. I couldn't find the amount of each herb. listed anywhere. I will do further investigation.
Mau✘ Not a clientI am decreasing the drugs gradually, and I'm feeling SO much BETTER! I've only come down 50 mg. and my mind is so much clearer and I have mnore energy. The insomnia still exists. I'm taking a herbal called mellodyn I order online, so far it is doing the trick.
Thanks for the response ABC.
Mau✘ Not a clientDrs. always think more is better it seems. She was just going to give me a sleep med. for 10 days to get my pattern back. I don't like taking any drug, but succumed to stress in Dec of last year, thus the Z. I hate it though as I'm always thinking “how I feel'! I've only decreased the Z the past two days and I seem more relaxed. I know this isn't the way it's supposed to work, but everyone responds differently. I tend to dwell on a problem until there's a solution. I'm trying to change but at 67, old habits die hard !
Thanks for your response owl2020. I appreciate.
Mau✘ Not a clientYes at the beginning my sleep did suffer as I went up by 25 mg per week to 100mg. Four months ago I went to 150 mg. Up until a month ago I was was fatigued, now insomnia. I know it's the Z. I was depressed/anxious due to SAD, thus the Z. Prior to that no problem sleeping! I visit my Dr. today she wants to add a sleeping pill. I said No, there has to be a reason for this. Could it be I'm too stimulated by the seretonin levels? She doesn't know of course. She then wanted to increase the Z. I said No, if I'm over stimulated shouldn't I be decreasing! She said we'll try 125 mg for two weeks. I want to know WHY this is happening, not pile on more drugs.
Feedback is welcome!
Mau✘ Not a clientIt's the constant ruminating when I don't sleep that is annoying. I go to bed thinking about it then it's a no go! Frustration sets in which I have to control! I'm convinced it's this Zoloft ( A.D.) that my Dr. has me on. I was fatigued for months now this! It's just so annoying. I'm retired so maybe I'm focusing on it too much! How do you put it out of your mind?
Mau✘ Not a clientDoes anyone else obsess when they lose sleep, or is that unique to me? I become depressed then the ruminatin kicks in!
Mau✘ Not a clientMelatonion worked for me but also depressed me severely. Did anyone else experience this. I'm presently on 150 mg of Zoloft. I hate it as I have all these side effects including insomnia. I was put on it for seasonal effective disorder, which causes anxiety/depression.
