Thanks Lizzy Anne for the reply,
You’re right, workout makes us feel better and will probably improve sleep if we stick to it. I don’t workout as much since I work in Construction because it such a physical work but I still wanna go to the gym 3x a week.
And for the plans we definitely have to stick to them, because each times we cancel plans due to lack of sleep, we let our insomnia have control over our lives and this is not what we wish for if we wanna get back on track. It’s a mental thing, the more we let it take over, the less chance we have of getting through our problem.

    Thanks for the post Grace,

I guess during this course, we will learn how to not be scared of the consequences of insomnia in our lives and that we cannot let insomnia dictate our future plans and our future thoughts. I’m really tired of being anxious about thinking if I’ll sleep tonight or not, I have to replace these thoughts with positive thoughts like whether I sleep or not, I will still stick to the plans that I got for tomorrow. If we always stick to it, we’ll never let Insomnia dictate our lives.

Thanks and hang in there also! Stay strong !

    Thanks for your reply Martin,

You’re right I have to put on the effort to keep doing the same activities as if I was sleeping right. When I cancel plans, I don’t feel any better at all, by staying home with this problem you feel even more lonely and not good for your mental health. The problem is always there and perhaps if I’m more active during the evenings instead of staying home, I’ll be even more tired at night and maybe sleep better also by adding to the sleep pressure.

I do find some alternatives like training at home, doing bodyweight exercices, stuff like that that’s not too demanding but I think it’s more of my negative thoughts and feelings that I need to change towards my insomnia. That’s what I’m gonna work on during these 6 weeks, sleep restriction and how I handle this problem mentally with a different approach.

    Hi Alya,

I’m also on sleeping pills, I take Zopiclone only when I really need them, not too often because they don’t work after a while. I also find that sleeping pills doesn’t give you deep sleep so I’m definitely trying to get rid of them ASAP.
I just signed in to the self-coaching course today so I’ll give you my sleep restriction results later on during the week.
