Yeah Martin. The AWAKE exercise. I get the drift of what you are saying. I understand that but still not able to do justice to the AWAKE exercise. Will try to do that with sincerity and see the outcome.
Sriram✓ ClientHi Martin,
The days when subconsciously I worry about night time wakefulness culminating into strong sleep anxiety by bed time, I end up not sleeping at all. The day I don’t worry am able to sleep. Obviously if I m able to overcome or accept the thoughts nd make room, it does make the situation much better but that’s where I am still struggling. How do I practically do that? Is there some kind of technique pls.

Haven’t yet started practising ongoing wakefulness exercise in the right sense. Will start practicing the same. As i write this post, I had to travel on work and after almost a fortnight I went through a full night of wakefulness. I tried to practice AWAKE but guess didn’t succeed. Will keep practicing and hopefully I would be in a better space.
Sriram✓ ClientThis is exactly which keeps bothering me. Am trying to welcome the thoughts but somehow have not been able to accept them and move on. I am suffering from insomnia since last 30 years and more often than not after a bad night i have been able to cope up the next day may be at 90% efficiency of not more but still the thought of not sleeping and having a bad next day keeps me awake on the nights when these thoughts overcome me. I am trying. Martin and this forum is such a reassurance. Guess this is my best shot at finding normalcy ultimately in my life.
Sriram✓ ClientThank you Kat.
Sriram✓ ClientHi Kat,
I get all the reassurance after watching the podcast and the way Martin patiently explains the situation on the sleep phobia. I too suffer from the same.
My question to you is
1. How did you start accepting the thoughts. I mean what exactly you started doing to accept the thoughts and how did it start fading away.2. Have you been able to overcome the thoughts on the night preceding an important day of your personal or professional life?
Regards
Sriram
