In my case telling myself that sleep wasnt in my control actually didnt help as my brain was so wired to believe that my health was going for a toss due to lack of sleep. So telling myself that sleep wasnt in my control added to my sleep anxiety as now there was this problem not in my control which was spoiling my health.

Martin’s precise explanation about the science behind sleep first helped me start to think differently that its ok to have a bit of sleep issues. What really helped me is his anchor technique where I become the observer observing my thoughts and my body’s reaction to those thoughts.Initially it was very difficult as before I realized it I got caught up in those negative thoughts and emotions. Its a mind game which I am working on everyday..And still a long way to go..The other thing is behaviour modification..Earlier I used to try and go to bed as early as possible..But nowadays I stick to my sleep window..
