Hi panfan1956 ….I experience exactly the same as you. By 8:30, I begin to nod off while reading/watching TV; however, if I head to bed around 10, invariably, I am suddenly wide awake & find I can’t easily fall asleep until after midnight.

No, I didn’t use either prior to insomnia. Given your response, I assume no need to use them as I navigate insomnia, correct?
Hello Martin …as a newly registered participant in your course, would you kindly confirm I’ve correctly calculated my Sleep Window.
Given I am currently sleeping less than 6 hours/night, & have determined my “out of bedtime” to be 7:00 am, am I right that my EARLIEST possible bedtime would be 1:00 am? I’m giving myself a score of 7 as to high likely I feel I am going to be able to follow this new sleep window for the next week.
