Congratulations on the new job Tom. 🙂 I think there has to be a link between happiness and getting a good nights sleep, because obviously if you are happy and not worrying about anything, it's got to make you sleep better hasn't it?

I remember when you used to be up all hours of the day and night. You'd often post at silly o clock when you should have been asleep and your diet didn't help either. Do you still live on pot noodles? tsk tsk.

Good to know things are getting better for you. 🙂

LOL no I've moved on from pot noodles……. to pot pasta. You know those pasta in sauce you bung in the microwave for a minute? Living on them at the minute haha

Well, only just finished work, and although I'm very very tired, I can't sleep. And I gotta be up at 8-9 for the draymen. Maybe I was on a happiness high. Mind you, might not be a bad sign, it's been a very long, stressful day, and I only literally finished half an hour ago (naughty lock in), and I always need a little wind down anyway. I'm off to bed after checking my regular forums & emails so will let ya know tomorrow if I went straight to sleep or struggled!

Congratulations, Tommy – and thank you for sharing. It certainly sounds as though your life has made a huge turn for the better, and that's great to hear. Hopefully we'll see more success stories from other members as the community here grows and develops.

Thanks Martin, I appreciate that! And yes, life has certainly turned around for the MUCH better. Finally got my own flat above the place I'm now assistant manager of (The Sherwood Ranger Inn, Worksop). Finally living all alone, and finally have a job I'm passionate about and love.

Now all I have to do is keep the alcohol demons away and don't screw it up!

Gimme your address and I'll send it today!

….It'll be a bit smaller than your average ferrari though. About 2″ big, but if you pull it back on a table and let go it'll fly forwards!

I know that studies have stated that driving sleepy is just as dangerous as driving drunk (http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/a-sleepy-driver-might-as-well-be-a-drunk-driver/) – that being said, it's definitely an inconvenience when sleep finally decides to find you at the one time it's not convenient!

Maybe it's something to do with the monotony or relaxing nature of driving? Perhaps they need to make 'insomniac seats' in addition to child seats so insomniacs can get a good night's sleep in the back seat of their own cars?!

Driving while sleepy is actually the most common cause of traffic related deaths, even more so than drink driving. More people crash, or run somebody over, by falling asleep at the wheel than they do just by having a few pints.

On a lot of roads in Britain now you'll see signs, especially on the M1 up here, “Tired? Pull over and have a nap!” etc, because the amount of people that have fallen asleep at the wheel and gone crashing into the barricades is ridiculous

You probably won't 'get' the film without playing the game, but it pretty much explains as much as it can in the first few mins. People who've never played the game think the film's too slow for an 'action film', but the game isn't an FPS/shoot 'em up, it's more of a survival RPG. It's made by a Ukrainian company based around a fictional second disaster of Chernobyl, causing mutations; anomalies and a strict military cordoning of 'The Zone' (based on the real-life Zone of Alienation around Chernobyl).

It's seriously the best game I've ever played, unlike Western game companies, this one has really put a lot of thought into the AI; gameplay; the world its self

    Here's the game trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kjrl0L5dQI

You know you need more sleep when as you're walking down the road you're being chased by zombie-hunters. (*stagger, moan, drool, snore, stagger*)

I watched a fan-made film last night called S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Monolith's Whisper, revolved around my favourite game series (S.T.A.L.K.E.R), and I have to say, it was better than 99.9999999% of the tosh they churn out of Hollywood, that's for sure! Not only that, I was particularly impressed about how they captured the feeling of isolation and the general atmosphere of 'The Zone' in the film.

As it's a fanmade movie the acting isn't exactly Sir Michael Caine, and of course with a $1,000 budget the CGI is not Steven Spielberg, but the storyline; the atmosphere; the plot and the general portrayal of The Zone and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S themselves as absolutely bloody brilliant.

After watching the film on YouTube (legally, it's on their official YouTube account), I immediately went to their website and bought the DVD (with extended footage etc) out of gratitude for their efforts and donated some money, they are going to make a sequel to explain the cliffhanger ending but need funds.

Any S.T.A.L.K.E.R fans here, you can watch the film on the official Monolith Whispers' channel:

Even if you've never played STALKER, check the film out, it explains the background of The Zone in the first few minutes anyway and who knows, might make you wanna play the BEST GAME EVER MADE. EVER.
