Nadine,
I’m sort of in the same boat- I tend to focus on my wife sleeping and that keeps me there awake…….. Or she’s falling asleep quick and I lay there wondering why I can’t. We were able to sleep by each other a few nights but now I’m struggling again.
tweg11✓ ClientNadine,
The nights, as well as days, where I feel I’ve had the most success dealing with thoughts comes from either “opening” up to them or “acknowledging” them. Between “AWAKE” and “NOW” I can definitely find good from those two exercises. The struggle tends to subside.
A lot of it is just putting our mind at ease as you know. I find less struggle by just saying something like “I’m having the thought of ______” which really seems to help.tweg11✓ ClientEvieviera,
I found each week has gotten better for me too by utilizing the sleep window first, and if I wake at night practicing “AWAKE.” That mixed with grasping the importance of not feeding the insomnia “beast” my continued worry about sleep throughout the day, I really turned a corner. One day and one night at a time.
Hopefully things keep getting better for you.

tweg11✓ ClientI’ve found AWAKE to be a great tool to at night. Sometimes it’s just the “you’re okay and thanks brain for looking out for me.” Saying those things seem to do the trick.
tweg11✓ ClientThank you Martin! These forums and your emails are beyond encouraging!
tweg11✓ ClientC5,
I apologize if I asked you this already- have you listened to and of Martin’s podcasts? Between the course, his YouTube videos, and the personal experiences in the podcasts I took away a lot of information that ended up being helpful. Listening to the ways some managed to battle back the anxiety associated with sleep and wakefulness really put me on the right track. If you can master your mind you win. You can win!
Lucastweg11✓ ClientGenieB,
After the rough day I had Saturday, one of my worst days ever, I told myself all day that insomnia will not continue to rob me of my family time. If we can find a way to control that fear of night we win.
Keep telling yourself your body knows how to sleep. You will win!tweg11✓ ClientNadine,
Mind over matter- you can do it!
tweg11✓ ClientDulce,
After just one week my sleeping has also improved so much. I found the sleep restriction to be the biggest plus for me. I was forcing earlier bedtimes to compensate for lost sleep, and eating CBD gunmies at night like Halloween candy. I stick to my 10:30pm to 5:30am sleep restriction and have cut out CBD cold turkey with no issues. I am so glad I found Martin! 🙏🏻
What were your biggest changes that improved things for you?

tweg11✓ ClientC5,
Hang in there! I had some good nights in a row then fell off and back to a good night. Just remember a bad night won’t put us in the grave- we can still operate and complete the day. Don’t feed into the “bully” of insomnia- once we all master that I think we win. I’m doing my best to accomplish that myself. 🙏🏻

tweg11✓ ClientGenieB,
Between the podcasts and Martin’s YouTube videos there’s a great amount of advice and content. I think the podcasts and forums really help us all feel like we aren’t alone. I’m glad they’re helping you too!

tweg11✓ ClientGenieB,
Try listening to Martin’s podcast with Amanda. Her perspective on the “bully” we call insomnia really helped me yesterday. Her statement of “I see you” to combat it really helped me battling my fatigue and keep positive.
Lucastweg11✓ ClientGenieB,
I’ve found the same thing- less worry and concern about sleeping results in better chances of a good night. I know my constant pessimistic view of nights cost me a lot.

tweg11✓ ClientNadine,
Welcome to the group! I think the first step is the hardest in this process- committing to asking for help. I tried for six months to fix my insomnia on my own, and a week ago was my “rock bottom.” Finding Martin on YouTube and enrolling in his course was the best decision I made in a really long time. Remember that this is a marathon not a sprint. My wife keeps reminding me that it took a long time to develop insomnia abs it’ll take time to address it and conquer it. As you go through the course take the small wins and be good to yourself. You’ll have tough nights still, but just remember you can survive fatigue and win the night. Two bad nights in a row for me this week had me dragging yesterday. I did everything my family needed me to do yesterday and I slept great last night. As you go through the course remember you can beat insomnia- push back on it and tell it you’ll win!
Lucastweg11✓ ClientThanks Larry for the words of encouragement. I’m a week into the course and the sleep restriction has been a big positive. I had four great nights in a row this week, but the last two have been awful. It’s such a tough spot we’re in- the toughest thing I’ve ever had to overcome in my life. I like your approach to it being “long term.” I’m going to try my best to remember that take.
