Yeah I’m having the same issues Deb.  You are not alone.  Not sure how to address either honestly.

Yeah honestly I would love to be able to get to that point again.  But yeah maybe Mac is right in that I have to do the SRT first.

I think really that’s the first step.  If that fear/anxiety is gone or reduced that is the starting point.

That sounds good to me, thanks Deb

I feel like my own SRT got derailed.  I have young kids, so it was making it harder to follow everything to the letter.  Guess I have to try to return to that for a two week period and see the effect.  I quite like the idea of ACT, but my anxiety is so high I’m having difficulty letting the thoughts go.  But, yeah as with Carlos, I understand that it’s not immediate.  So I guess I’m wondering if SRT is a good starting point to get things more stabilized before trying ACT.

Yeah think not looking at the clock is necessary.

I guess my issue is when I have a regression it really affects me and I can’t then get out of it easily.  It tends to rock my confidence again.  Then I revert back to using props/pills to try to get back on track.

Thanks Deb.  Fantastic summary.  Really appreciate it.  I’ll re-read some of the chapters then and take some notes.  I know for sure it will take practice.  As with all things in life.

Thanks for charting your progress Deb.  I’ve had good spells, but now back in a bad one.  Feel like the anxiety creeps back in even if I’m exhausted.  So I’m beginning to think that long term might have to try ACT.  I own the book, but Deb can you give a quick overview of the technique you’ve been employing.

Yeah the earlier bedtime is detrimental I totally agree.  Do both of you practice any mindfulness techniques or relaxation techniques?  Or how do you best keep the anxiety levels lower.  I recall Deb indicating she was employing those techniques.

Ok I’m going to try to be more consistent now.  Will do a window of 12 – 6:15 starting tonight and see how that goes for a bit.

That’s awesome to hear Deb.  I’m having difficulty myself with the consistency of things.  I’ll have a couple of good nights and then follow it with a bad night.  Feel like it’s something you referenced earlier Deb, if I’m not completely exhausted then I feel the anxiety building up more.  Perhaps I’m not committing fully enough to the SRT.  But yeah getting frustrated with the up and down nature of things currently.

Thanks for that link Delv.  Yeah I agree, think the main thing is to be consistent for now.

Yeah I have that issue Deb with the negative thoughts.  Maybe should practice more mindfulness.  I’m impressed your were able to let things go.  Think with practice it becomes easier.

That’s great Deb.  What techniques did you use?  Focusing on your breathing?

Took a nap last night in front of tv.  Didn’t mean to but guess was tired.  Caused things to really backfire then when I tried to go up for bed.  Think I’m going to commit more now to the SRT.
