@martin I’m working with a local cbti psychiatrist. She is helpful but I wish o had more day to day support. My current sleep window is 11-5:30am. On a good night, I sleep the entire window, usually waking once but going back to sleep. The bad nights include waking after 2-3hrs of sleep, and usually staying awake the remainder of the night. I get out of bed every time being in bed doesn’t feel good. I do something boring then go back to bed when I’m sleepy, but as soon as I get back in bed I feel wide awake again. The cycle repeats all night. I still get up at 5:30am regardless of whether or not I slept. I practice writing out my negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones. I feel like I’m doing everything I can and I don’t understand why I haven’t seen more progress by now. (I started cbti about 7wks ago)

I feel so honored that you replied @martin Reed. Haha! Yes, I do feel very sleepy at that time. I always get up by 6am.

Thank you for the reply @scottctj

That makes a lot of sense! I had a lot of anxiety about my son waking at night when he was first born, and I think that is what originally triggered my fear of my bed and sleep. I was afraid that as soon as I fell asleep, he would wake me up – which often happened! But he has been consistently sleeping through the night for months now and I haven’t seemed to recover from that original fear. Now instead of being afraid of my son waking me up, I’m afraid of ANYTHING waking me up because then I can’t get back to sleep. He goes to bed at 7pm, but I don’t go to bed until around 10pm because that was my normal bedtime before insomnia. I do get out of bed when I wake up, but it’s getting really frustrating after 7mos of getting out of bed every night. I just want to sleep!
