On a typical night, I’m usually tired enough to doze off again after it happens. But it keeps happening, over and over, as I try to doze off. It can happen for hours straight, so I usually just give up at some point and hope that I’ll be tired enough the following night to sleep through them. It can be anywhere from localized muscle twitches (pretty much anywhere on my body) to intense full body jerks. Very difficult to sleep through, so I don’t get much sleep these days.
This is an older post but in case you see this, I really relate to your experience. I am currently trying the advice from Martin (which seems to be helping somewhat so far, but I’m only a couple weeks in). I’m also reading a book called Say Goodnight to Insomnia, which has helped to reduce some of my insomnia-related anxieties. It also also goes into CBT techniques, but I haven’t made it that far into the book yet. I REALLY hope you can find something that helps you. I know how debilitating insomnia can be and how it makes life feel not worth living anymore, but don’t give up on trying to find a solution! You are not alone.
Also, don’t worry about what your dr said, it sounds like he’s not very familiar with insomnia and potential solutions . Maybe get a new one if you can!
