    Supercute!! 🙂

I'd be too worried to see Metallica live now – more for their physical wellbeing then anything else. My feelings for JH have evolved from a guy I quite liked to a Grandpa I feel compelled to help across the road 😀

No honestly, it's not, I don't suffer tinnitus are anything like that but silence truly really hurts more that I can describe…

Feeder have an album called Comfort in Sound. Have to say I disagree with them on that one.

I miss the silence! My tinnitus can be deafening sometimes. Price I pay for listening to too much Feeder! 😀

Recommendations please! I've been lent Avatar on DVD – is it worth 162 minutes of my life?

thanks, hope to get some more news on baby Harley today….as for the jeans, you are so far the only person to say purple jeans are cool!

I love my purple cords. I feel like a glam rocker in them 🙂

Good Times: Started a new job today!

Bad Times: I'm going to be working a shift rota starting in a couple of weeks. Who knows what that's going to do to my insomnia!

Good Times: Being back on a payroll is a nice place to be!

It's stupid I was watching horror movies at a very young age (hey, my dad really cared…not) and they never bothered me in the slightest…but a mere cartoon?

My first crush was on Hank from Dungeons and Dragons. When I was younger, it never mattered whether a show had been drawn or not, it was my imagination that made them real and gave them power over me.

Puppets where just as bad. Just watching Zelda's face on the Terrahawks opening sequence gave me the willies!

30 Days of Night annoyed me. There should have been way more emphasis on to getting to know the town and it's everyday, innocent people before unleashing the horror on them. It was barely scary or shocking when it could have been quite powerful. Never enjoyed the comic series so I wasn't expecting much of the film.

I saw Carriers last night (Imdb profile) and it felt like I was watching the straight-played version of Zombieland. Some nice ideas in it though.

Metal Mickey, Daleks, Cybermen, Robby from Lost in Space – they all plagued my childhood.

Nono from Ulysses 31 was alright though.

I can't believe I found this. I just developed sleeplessness. It started because of something huge that happened, and now it's being maintained by my worry that I can't sleep. I dread going to bed. It used to be that I woke up after a couple hours and couldn't get back to sleep. Tonight I haven't even been able to fall asleep. I don't know what to do. I don't want to take pills. Two weeks ago I slept fine. Now I'm struggling to concentrate in school, missing class, keeping my husband up, honestly going nuts. I cry every night after four hours go by. I feel really unhealthy during the day. How do you do it? Those of you who have chronic conditions how? Those of you who can fight it and sleep how? I know right now I can't sleep because of my worry, but I can't get rid of it. I have tried. Sometimes I think about holding my breath till I pass out so I can sleep. I'm that desperate. Help me please!

    Hey cherrychapstik,

I'm really sorry to hear how you're struggling and I hope you can find the support you're after here.

If your recent sleeplessness has come out of one particular event, have you been able to seek treatment/ therapy etc for that? As a chronic sufferer myself, I don't have an initial trauma I can look back on to explain my condition so as odd as it sounds, you're in an enviable position. If worrying about the fact you can't sleep and subsequently not being able to sleep is a symptom, maybe you should consider putting energy into overcoming your root cause first?

In the meantime, there are loads of coping techniques you can try to deal with the sleeplessness. Every single member here can roll off a long list of things they've tried. Hot baths before bed, not eating too late, lavender scented candles or linen spray, no TV or computer use for at least an hour before bed etc, etc.

For me, my insomnia comes from the fact my brain just wont switch off at night. I've recently learned to change focus and concentrate on getting rest rather then getting sleep. I'll do this by wearing myself out exercising in the day and/or having a hot shower before bedtime. Instead of laying down to sleep, I'll lay back and enjoy the feeling of my body relaxing. I also do deep breathing exercises while my muscles go limp. It doesn't help me sleep any longer but I definitely feel better the next day then I used to spending all night worrying about how many hours I had left before my alarm was due to go off. Also, if I get an opportunity for a nap in the day, I will always take it and if needs be, go to bed later.

Hope this offers a little help to you. You're not alone and you will overcome it 🙂

As people who have little deep sleep seem to have a greater capacity for obesity.

I'm definitely struggling with maintaining my weight. I know being a biscuit fiend doesn't help, but I've found these last few months where my insomnia's been excessively bad, the same amount of light exercise (mostly walking) doesn't have the same effect on my body it used to.

It's not quite hallucinating, but I had a bout of sleep paralysis recently. I'd had less then 10 hours sleep over 4 days and on day 5 pretty much collasped. Maybe it was a result of being over tired, but I had one of the most intense nightmares ever (not scary so much, just intense. Loud too). It felt like I forced myself awake to get out of it. My eyes opened straight away and my body took what felt like two minutes to wake up.

Not an experience I'd like to repeat 🙁

Going up the recently refurbished escalator at Warren Street tube station, the young suit in front of me was having a rant to his mate. Paraphrasing, he said: “In WWII, British engineers could build an entire Wellington bomber from scratch in 30 hours. How can it have taken 8 weeks to fix a single escalator! The Germans should've waited till now to invade, we'd have no chance!”

    History in motion…sort of.
