I have been on Trazodone for about 20 months now. When I originally started taking it, I took 25mg. It has now gone up to 150mg. The first month or so that I took it was filled with, as you say, crazy dreams. I woke up a lot, but the real difference was that I actually fell back asleep (which was at the time a hugely novel experience). Even though I was sleeping, I would feel very tired during the day. It was a different kind of tired though–it didn't feel like sleep deprivation anymore, just like I was constantly sleepy. After a while, my body got used to it, and although I've had to up the dosage several times, it was a real life-saver.
Of course, medication is a fickle, fickle thing, but I definitely had to adjust to Trazodone before it really worked for me. And now, it doesn't really work so much at all.
