✓ ClientI did the course plus the emailing back and forth with Martin. Both were invaluable. I also wish I would have just started sooner. I was so stuck and feeling extremely defeated and alone in it which is why having email access to Martin was comforting and worth it to me, but the course and the practice is what really changed everything for me. Martin would just reassure me and encourage me along the path the course lays out.
I dove right in and listened to the entire week of lessons as soon as it was available. I’m actually glad Martin made me pace myself by not allowing access to the next week early. I would relisten and focus on practice and implementation in my daily life. It has been a year since I completed the course and I am not even thinking or worrying about sleep ever. The daily practices I still use, since they apply to anything difficult we face, not just sleep. It is a mindset shift that I am beyond words grateful for🙌🏻🙏🏼Lu
✓ ClientHi Shila,
I feel for you so much! I have been there. My pregnancies and postpartum periods are what started my battle with insomnia years ago. I am a registered nurse and specialize in maternal
Child health. I visit pregnant and newborn moms in their homes and provide support, education and resources. I can tell you that insomnia during pregnancy is normal and rather common affecting 78% of pregnant moms for varying reasons, anxiety being a BIG one. Stay the course focusing on what you can control and trust your body to take care of the baby. It knows just what to do. Calm your anxiety and know that resting you body and mind is valuable too! I struggled with insomnia during pregnancy and used sleep meds sometimes too. My kids are now 19, 16, 16, 13 and all are healthy happy INCREDIBLE people!! All is well. Your positive and kind thoughts to yourself and that growing baby are powerful and that is something you can do every day and night. Sending you so much calm energy and support. You got this mama🫶🏼💪🏼🙏🏼Lu
✓ ClientThis is a helpful thread for me to read. I had 12 amazingly great nights in a row taking no sleep meds, then last night had a setback and couldn’t fall asleep. I took a sleep med in the middle of the night after practicing AWAKE exercise and all my best calming self talk for several hours. I remained calm and that is a win. I have seen improvement and that is something to be grateful for. This is HARD.
How are both of you doing now? Love to hear an update after having setbacks.

✓ ClientHi Raju,
I also feel for you. I have experienced everything you are talking about and am still working on it. I started with a 6 hour sleep window. Martin says to make it at least 5 hours so I did that plus 1 hour. Remember the start of the sleep window is just the earliest possible time for sleep, but don’t feel added pressure just because it has begun. I have also used sleep meds off and on for many years. Still not something I have let go of. I try to use all of the tools I am learning in the course first before I resort to meds. I had almost 2 straight weeks with no meds and filled my sleep window I extended it. Then last night I couldn’t fall asleep:( I think setbacks and bad nights are so normal. I am trying not to be derailed. Keep choosing what is important and what you love during the days. Be patient and be KIND to yourself. All is well. You will be well. Stay the course🙏🏼
