Macadamia✓ Client
I am waking up 30 min. to an hour before the end of my sleep window. I try to get back to sleep. My alarm goes off, and I am exhausted. I feel sedated. Doxepin has an approximate 17 hour half-life. Lunesta’s is 6 hours.
So tired this morning when alarm went off, I slept in an hour. This extra hour of sleep allowed me to function during the day.
Since starting CBT-I, I have been taking short naps early in the day to be able to function without being sleep-deprived.
Macadamia✓ ClientHad to take a 15 minute nap I was so tired.
My caffeine usage in the morning since starting CBT-I has increased.
Macadamia✓ ClientI started the CBT-I program on Aug. 30. I’m going to start keeping a record here of how I feel each morning while doing the CBT-I.
I am also taking sleep meds. – 20 mg. Doxepin and 1 mg. Lunesta prescribed by a sleep doctor/neurologist. They help me sleep, but my sleep isn’t always maintained. Sometimes I will be sedated, yet awake during the night.
I slept about 7 hours last night. However, I woke up feeling tired and groggy. My brain is not clear. I have little energy.
Macadamia✓ ClientI have no idea why it is hard for me to fall back to sleep. My brain is just awake. I’m trying CBT-I now, but I’m struggling with it. I’m tired all the time.
Macadamia✓ ClientMy heart goes out to you. Not sleeping is terrible. I’m glad you are posting here because we can understand a little bit what you are going through. I hope one day there will be enough research that scientists can understand the link between insomnia and mental illness. I think brain research is the answer. Again, my heart goes out to you. The suffering you are going through I know is extremely difficult. We are all in this together and I hope somehow you will find the help you need.
Macadamia✓ ClientCBT-I therapists are hard to find. There are only 2 in my city of 1,000,000 people, Austin, Texas. CBT-I can be hard to do. It’s good there is a sleep restriction forum here. I also like the money back guarantee. I’ve ordered the 2 books recommended here: The Sleep Book by Guy Meadows and The Effortless Sleep Method by Sasha Stephens. I like to read and hope the books help me. I hope we both find answers for the insomnia monster.
Macadamia✓ ClientNot sleeping is hell. Do you have a doctor in the new country you are in? I see a sleep doctor (neurologist) here in the United States.
Macadamia✓ ClientI tried Seriphos for sleep. It is usually prescribed for high cortisol levels. When I was first prescribed it by an integrative doctor, my cortisol levels were high. After taking 1,000 mg. a night for 3 months, my dried urine test results showed my cortisol levels were low. Lots of stress can cause your cortisol levels to be imbalanced. I empathize with your struggle and hope you can find an answer to the insomnia monster. We have to keep trying everything and not give up.
