I understand that waking up in the middle of the night is a normal part of sleep, but every 2 hours? That cannot be normal. I listened to you on a podcast so I do try to follow some of your ideas to get back to sleep. I sit up and read. I sometimes I get out of bed and read. Reading makes me “sleepy.” What makes me fall a sleep is listening to an audiobook. I tried to go without my phone at all, but it is the boring audiobook which makes me go to back to sleep.
I used to wake up at 1:00 or 3:00 after going to bed at 9:00, which I know is normal. I am 62 years old. Now I wake up way more often. One other thing is I have MS. That may be contributing to me waking up.
