    Hi, Annelies,

I know exactly what you're going through; I understand it all too well. Just last night my insomnia came roaring back. I slept a little less than two hours, so today I've felt as though I've been in a fog. I hate it. But insomnia has its way with me when I least expect it. The only good thing about today was that I didn't have to work. So I was able to take it easy and not have to expend much energy.

    Welcome! I'm glad you're here.

@mike__hooker That's a double underscore. Somebody else with my name had it without the underscore at all, and somebody else had it with only one underscore, so I had to do two.

Double cheese burger, large fries and a Coke from Sonic. I don't eat this often because of the calories, fat, and sodium, but it sure is good.

I work the evening shift, and stopping by Sonic (or any other fast-food restaurant) on my way home is too easy.

Good for you, Martin! I'm a cat guy…I love them, always have. We have one, Emmy, and I'd like two or three more. But the wife says no.

I know nothing about poetry, but I think you've summed up insomnia really well. You nailed the alarm clock–the thing every insomniac hates. I know the feeling of jealousy toward those who can fall asleep quickly and sleep all night without waking up. Great job!

“I think there really needs to be more guidance for parents when it comes to coping and helping children with unusual sleeping habits.”

I agree, Martin. I have a friend whose 15-year-old daughter is now suffering from insomnia. He really doesn't know what to do for her. Since I didn't have this problem when I was 15, I couldn't give him much advice. About all I could do was offer moral support. I'm sure he would appreciate some help from someone, anyone in his present situation.

How about those Cowboys! 1 and 7 so far. Great team this year! At least Jerry (the owner) fired Wade (the head coach). They have all kinds of talent, but they just can't make it work this season. Oh, well.

Working on an article for ezinearticles.com, checking email, checking out Insomnia Land. I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd better say Hi.

Last year I read Waylon Jennings' autobiography. In it he said that he used to stay awake for up to seven days straight, pumped up on pills of some kind.

A manager where I work told me the longest he has stayed awake is five days. My longest is a little more than two days, and that was waaaaay too long. At that point I couldn't concentrate. I felt numb all over, especially the brain. Driving was hazardous. I had no energy, but still had to work, still had to function is a world that obviously chooses to put sleep problems aside and carry on.
