Hi everyone – relapses here too, although I like to call them ‘speed bumps’ rather than relapses. After weeks of pretty ok sleep and feeling like I didn’t even think of insomnia, (6 months after finishing the course) all of a sudden I have had a bad week of not much sleep – lying awake, not struggling anymore but just awake….. Sometimes I listen to Martin’s podcasts well into the night which I find very helpful but I am aware that my problem solving brain is monitoring my sleep and/or lack of it. I find it really hard to shut this off or try to not pay too much attention to this. I can get on ok with my days and commit to what I need to do, but it does leave me feeling pretty disheartened and leads to underlying anxiety during the day due to uncertainty each night. I know I have the tools which I use (awake exercise) but I guess practice is just ongoing….
paulasim5✓ ClientHello RobStaub – this is the same for me…..when this happens I put on one of Martin’s podcasts and lie and listen, sometimes I listen to 2 as it helps me to relax and quite often I nod off. It’s just occupying your mind and taking it away from the struggle whilst listening to success stories which is always good – hope this helps
paulasim5✓ ClientThankyou Martin! Yep you are correct, tracking sleep I know is unhelpful….. I’ll try not to do it, I need to somehow shut my brain off from wanting to know 🤔 I really appreciate this course and all the knowledge, hope and help you have brought to so many people 😊
