Oh gosh, chapstick…I perpetually put it on, but my lips are almost perpetually dry.
I have a fairly similar ritual to Yameris, actually. I make sure the door is closed, I usually lock it (I have awesome roommates, just a safety habit, also, it helps keep me safe in case I am not “sane” at the time). I make sure things that need charging (iPod, phone, etc) are. I pull the comoforter and sheet back a very specific amount (borderline obsessive about how it's folded) crawl in, call my cat (if she hasn't already joined me) and hopefully call it a night.
Oh, I forgot, before all that I turn on my fan (even in the cold.) I like it cold, esp. at night, and also I found the fan is amazing at generating white noise. And I always re-fluff my pillow. (Even though, I fluff it and make my bed the second after I get up–cuz I'm weird.)
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientI felt relieved, but
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientThat is an awesome story, Franky, about how you two met. I don't believe I've ever heard it or asked, mostly out of respect for your privacy. I bet you're going nuts with excitement about this upcoming time you two will have. Awesome!!!
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientWelcome. 😛
I a fellow former Washingtonian. (I went to HS in Silverdale – Kitsap County) and I also lived in the city of Seattle itself for a year. To be fair though, my heart belongs to Texas, even though I don't think I'm ever moving from California. Lol.
I hope you find this forum useful, we're a great bunch of people. Glad you found us.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientOh, yameris & emmaree I am DYING, absolutely DYING to see both INCEPTION and SALT. Sadly, my social anxiety is so bad, I haven't been to an actual movie theatre in probably 2 years, no joke. When I was younger I routinely saw 1-3 movies a week at theatres. At any rate, I'm holding out for INCEPTION…there is an actual chance I might go see it. Otherwise, as usual, I must wait for BLU/DVD.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientWow, someone gets a gold star today, Martin!!!
I don't know about everyone else here on Insomnia Land, specifically, but I know my friends and such, and the most likely time they are available to chat are during those few, rare, special “dead” times on weekends (e.g. Sunday morning, pre-Church or no-Church, Sunday evening (everyone winding down and at home usually, in prep. for new work week.)
If someone is really savvy they can calculate the time difference and time it so N. America and its geographic neighbors, and Europe and its geographic neighbors can be both early morning dead-time + evening/night dead-time = perfect time for everyone.
(And please, don't get offended, I know and am proud this is an international forum, I am not forgetting Australia, or even Luxembourg (anyone from the Lux??? LOL.) But seriously, if we could find that magical hour, since, I've noticed the time zones of a lot of people could theoretically correspond at the right time calculation, that would be ten kinds of awesome.

On another note, I realize this was F's post, and I talk to F, he's awesome. But if anyone wants my contact info, I can always use new chat buddies. Twitter is great and all, but I prefer IM, the dying art. Message me or post here directly assuming I haven't been overly off-putting to you.)

seenafterscene✘ Not a clientWelcome, Sophie. I must admit my Canadian geography is horrible, so I am not sure if you are the same “Soffie” (sp?) that also lives in Canada that I just replied to or if it is just a coincidence, of what I must say is an awesome name, however you spell it. We've got a good bunch of people here, and we're glad you've joined us.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientHi Sophia and welcome to Insomnia Land. I too, reluctantly do things like take “sleeping pills” (which somehow get a bad rap, IMO) sparingly, prescribed; and anxiety is often a big contributor to falling asleep, staying asleep, etc. My doctor suggested I take one of my anxiety medications (I'm on two) before bed, to mellow me out. Have you talked to your doctor about that??? I found it really helped–downside was, that I developed tolerance to BOTH medications very fast, and had to reevaulate. But short-term, it might at least bring back some zzzz's and sanity.
Hope you enjoy the Insomnia Land community.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientCongrats, Mike. Welcome to Insomnia Land. And also, it appears we are members of the same “club.” Sadly, it is not the Black Card club, the Diner's Club, or even Costco club…it is the awful insomnia and bipolar club (and in my case more, as I suspect may be the case with you.) I dated a physician, not a psychiatrist–but they confirmed what my psychiatrist, therapists, and friends had been telling me for years and already know. The two: insomnia & bipolar feed themselves so exhaustably back-and-forth that it's pretty hard to differentiate. Ex: Is this horrible insomnia period because I'm depressed, or manic and not needing sleep but still deprived…or is this manic/depressed phase because I haven't been sleeping well???
The answer I have found time and time again, is that it is both.
Again, nice to have you here. Welcome.

I've been meaning to watch that.
My favorite war movie quote has nothing to do with war per se, just a beautifully written dialogue piece from “The Hurt Locker.” It used to be my signature, so I won't bore everyone repeating it.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientI love the chat client/weekly chat idea. I've long thought it would be perfect to have something like that here, particularly since all of us are from all over, so that there's someone to talk to when we are up early/late, and a weekly chat would be awesome though tricky timing. I am West Coast, U.S. Maybe we could have more than one “weekly” chat like offer 2 times maybe since we're such an international community.
