Sounds like typical pre-Thanksgiving stress and troubles! How did yesterday go? Did you manage to avoid the rum and coke?!

It was nice and peaceful…. I drank wine.. I have not had any rum and coke for weeks…. especially since my husband drank it all a few weeks ago when he ran out of beer. Today I am doing laundry and feeling like I need a nap.

I was just taken off a medication for my afib after a cardio conversion. I have been on the amiordorne for about 9 months this time, and about a year before. This time my TSH level has gone to 9 which is WAY above normal and cause many of the symtoms I have in the topic title. At the moment to get through all of this and not space totally out, as I HAVE ALWAYS been able to sleep, and looked forward to it, now I DREAD it, and am taking something for that anxiety, and Ambien to sleep, if not I like awake until 4 to 5 in the morning. I am normally a late go to bed person, around 1:30 or 2:00, but then go right to sleep and get up once to use the restroom, and go right back to sleep before this issue started. SO…I am doing the drugs right now, and once the TSH level is back to normal, I will see how everything goes with my dr. overseeing all of this. He stopped the amiordone yesterday, but it is a wicked drug at times—side effects—but does help in keeping me in sinus rhythm. I did cardio conversion earlier this year and it worked, but did not go off the amiordorne. SO…fingers crossed and I just hope for some form of “normal” again. Thoughts for others who have had this issue? I had a valve replacement 7 years ago, so glad that is still working. LIFE—-ups and downs. thanks Joe inman

what do you take for anxiety? I take atavan….and also I am taking ambien cr…. Explain to me what TSH means?

I'm not clear as to what you are doing now. Are you still using Ambien, and if so what dosage. Also you indicate when you went to the hospital you were told stomach and other issues were causing your insomnia. Could you provide a little more detail on this. I have had insomnia for about a half year and still don't know the cause for sure. I use a low dose Ambien once or twice a week when I wake up and can't get back to sleep and it gives me between 2 to 3 hours additional sleep added on to the sleep I had before I woke up in the night. I would prefer to not use it at all but there are times I need to do something the next day where I don't want to be a zombie or I just crave the additional sleep time. So I'm curious at to what your current status is with regard to taking Ambien and the causes of your insomnia.

I still am on the ambien cr… and they gave me atavan to relax me. I seem to only take the atavan once a day… mostly during the evening. I also have completely cut myself off coke and caffeen. And trying to change my eatting habits. I have Gerd, a hiatal hernea and other crap which I really don't want to mention and the Gerd and hernea which I am still confused about…. i can not lay down after I eat. I have not tried to fall asleep without the ambien. And since the hospital they gave me atavan to help me relax.I see my main doctor and my ob/gyn to see if there is anything else going on that I need to be checked… It seems whatever is going on wit me is effecting my period not (tmi) but it is very light since day one like if it was spotting. I have not tried to fall asleep without the ambien cr…. but last week I was able to take a nap for the first time in ages. Right now I am still trying to get my strength back and need to deal with the clean laundry pile that I somehow I have not had the energy to put away since I came back from the hospital. (I was in for 6 days)

Welcome… sometimes it is health issues that cause insomnia… I just learned that.
