Sydonia044✘ Not a client
Also Martin, just wondering what your thoughts are on this article?
https://www.thoughtco.com/can-lack-of-sleep-really-damage-your-brain-2795013
Is it possible that lack of sleep can cause permanent damage?
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientThank you so much for the reassurance Martin it means a lot. I’m going to create a post asking about Paradoxical Intention therapy if you’d be able to give any insight on it? Thank you again.
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Martin,
I think for me personally the worrying about having to get up for work was just causing me more sleep anxiety. I did however manage to go for walks and occassionally to the gym as well as get out with friends from time to time even though I was completely exhausted!
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientDidn’t do anything for me in terms of sleep perhaps just made me feel even groggier in the morning.
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Deb,
Thank you again for your reply. So, you basically just stuck with a set bed and getting up time and followed the 30/30 rule? Do you always unwind before going to bed? If you can’t sleep and you get up what would you do for 30 minutes? Do you turn off all electronics an hour before bed? Sorry for all the questions.
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Deb,
I can completely understand how you felt as I’m experiencing those problems now and had to go to AE last night. May I ask how many hours you were sleeping when it was bad? I’m so glad that things have gotten better for you! May I also ask what protocols Martin gave you to get your sleep on track and if you’re also taking any kind of medication for your anxiety and sleep? I think I may very well have to hire Martin.
OMG! Warm bath and a cup of warm milk lol. You must be from the UK like myself? Because that’s all the mental health team seem to want to advise it’s truly crazy how most of them put such little emphasis on how important sleep is.
Thank you for sharing your story
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientKeep going Steve you’re doing well! I do relate though as I’mnot even getting 2 hours unless I take a dreaded pill. I’m sure I’ll be implementing the SR soon myself and like yourself not looking forward to the getting out of bed part! When you say microsleeps are you falling asleep and not being aware? Never really understood the term. Hopefully it won’t take you that long just keep consistent bud you can beat this!
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Martin,
I’m reluctant to take zopiclone long term while waiting to recieve CBTI, but I get so desperate I end up taking one every 4 days or so due to having only 1 hour if I’m lucky of fragmented sleep a night. I guess what I’m asking is it a good idea to take it while waiting for therapy and whether they cause more harm than good? I want to do what’s best, but confused on direction.
Kind regards,
Matt
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientThank you Steve, I’m just trying to cling onto some hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. How are you?
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Nile,
Thank you for reaching out and relating to what it’s like. How much sleep are you getting at the moment? Do you know what triggered your insomnia? I too am wwaiting to see a CBTI therapist, but sadly the wait times can be long.
Matt
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Aiva,
Thank you for your message, unforuntely, I’ve tried many benzos and antdepressants and they don’t seem to touch me too much. I think for me because I also suffer from body dysmorphic disorder I need to get my obsessive and destructive thinking patterns/obsessions under control for the most part. You’re right meds are not the long term awnser it’s a case of trying to accept the things we cannot control in order to reduce the anxiety, but I know when you don’t sleep it’s a massive battle to tame it. I hope your meeting goes well with your Women’s health Dr. and try and stay positive.
Kind regards,
Matt
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Steve, I agree and the only one which knocks me out for little is the zopiclone the rest don’t seem to touch me and that goes for the anti anxiety med too. Melatonin doesn’t seem to do much for me either. I think I have to get my obsessions under control to reduce the anxiety.
I agree though it’s hard to get things under control when you have consecutive bad nights in fact I don’t think I’ve had a good one yet without the meds. I’m sure we can do this without meds though. I’m trying to take on board that the amount of sleep we get isn’t a rule of thumb. I wish us all recovery from this hell.
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Steve,
That would be good to keep in touch and yes the blurry vision is horrible indeed! Do you have blurry vision all day long if you don’t manage to sleep? I will problably implement the CBTI as best I can before seeing the specialist.
Hi Rion,
I think we need to concentrate on CBTI for now. If you can find a specialist in your area then I would advise to do so or enroll on Martin’s free course here for the meantime (I’m on day 6 right now). Seeing as there are quite a few of us with the same issue it gives me some sense of relief knowing it’s not likely something serious. Mine started after a panic attack/mental breakdown about a month ago. Have you always suffered with anxiety/depression?
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHow lnog were you on the meds for Steve? The side effects and potential nervous system damage is what really puts me off but some nights I’m so desperate. Hang in there with the CBTI I understand it’s a long process, but worth doing.
Sydonia044✘ Not a clientHi Steve,
Just curious how would someone know if they have DPSD?
Matt
