    Hi both

Well I am having a right GRUMY DRAWERS start to the day as I probably had tooooo much sleep again ( could be something to do with tooooo much vino with last nights Chinese ! ) and I have a headache which I thought was sleep related but again . . . Vino me thinks !!

I love your photo M0NK3Y it looks like a very sweet dreamy sleepy monkey . . . I feel very much like my photo today and I feel a very decadent pamper meditation and snooze session coming on this afternoon. I like to treat myself to this on a Saturday as I can't have a slight snooze in the week now I am back at work !

I hope you both have a relaxing Saturday and get some peaceful sleep in the bank.

That is all thanks to you Martin . . . your fantastic website brought us together and your thought provoking e-mails have got us where we are today and I am sure I would not be living so ” happily with insomnia ” had I not found your life line.

We owe you a debt of gratitiude and the best way to repay that is to be on here helping you support new insomniacs through what we know first hand is an awful up hill struggle all on your own.

A very grateful Tired Ted x

    Hi Both

Well just stopped laughing at the vivid vision of me . . . insomniatic pom poms in hand . . . in jimmy jams . . . having a menopawsal flushy after exerting myself cheer leading . . . all matching my cheer leading outfit . . . which is menopawsal red of course . . .

Will have to make this short and sweet as I had a lovely post started then someone came in and being the dedicated person I am I had to cut off whilst helping out at work and then my flaming message went into the ether and is not to be seen again !

Keep supporting each other until I chan chip in officially once at home . . . after tea in he local pub as we couldn't get enough shopping in because of the snow . . . any old excuse for an alcholic tea !

Take care . . . . keeeeeeeep talking and post soon

Great to have you on board.

I don't have any tips for day time frustrations and sleep depravation as my philosophy is just go with the flow . . . sleep when your body says sleep and make the best of any awake time you have.

Life got sooooo much easier for me when I stopped stressing about not sleeping when ” normal ” people were sleeping and I had little projects, or pamper sessions ready for when insomnia decided I was going to be awake !

It will get better . . . Groggy is a better example than me as I have only had insomnia to contend with since July 2012 but poor old Grogz has has it almost all her life and here she is . . . Living proof that with the right support and mindset Insomnia can be beaten . . . Or at least viewed in a way that makes it easier to cope with.

Stick with us and Martin and I am sure you will see a difference . . . My motto is . . . We will overcome . . . Just not overnight !

    Hi M0NK3Y

I echo all that my cyber-insomniac buddy Groggy has put above . . . couldn't have worded it better myself . . . thats what weeks of insomniatic posts will do for you !

Groggy or I are usually around at some point in he wee small hours and are always willing to help fellow insomniacs . . . if only so you don't feel alone.

Hope you get as much out of this forum and Martin's Sleep programme as we have . . . this is highly recommended and has changed my life and the way I view sleep and the lack of it. You could always try it and see how you go . . . you have nothing to lose and hopefully lots to gain.

    Hiya Grogz

Now . . . Now . . . no berating yourself for much needed sleep and remember . . . it is in the bank now so you can have more activitiy in the early hours now, plus I know non-insomniacs who get up way after 10 am !

I use Sky to tape my missed programmes which is basically all of the soaps and any other programmes I like to watch after 7 pm . . . Mr M hates most of the programmes I watch so I have to watch them alone so it might just as well be in the wee small hours anyway . . . poor old Insomnia . . . getting pushed to one side for trashy TV !

What a lovely sign off and I throwing a big cyber hug right back at ya x

Take care . . . keeeeeeep awake and post to you soon.

    Hey . . . Hey . . . Hey . . . Who has taken on Insomnia and whooped its sorry **** !

You have done soooo well and sooooo quickly considering the number of years insomnia has been on your shoulders ~ WELL DONE Groggy.

As I have said for a while . . . I now believe that it is mind over matter and the key to our success is leting ourselves accept being awake at what we had previously classed as ' normalised sleeping hours ' . . . without classing it as a failure and putting ourselves back. On paper Iwould guess I am just short of being a true insomniac but in my mind I am okay now. I still wake early doors ( usually between midnight and 2 am ) but just take time for me and watch what I have recorded from when I was asleep early evening or treat myself to a pamper session or a meditation and voila . . . I am back in the land of nod and my sleep bank is toped up nicely. So in simple terms. . . I am an insomniac . . . But I don't care because I have got around it by not being bothered and not having negative affirmations keep me awake !! This is all thanks to Martins tips / this forum and finding a great insomniatic confidant . . . My cyber-insomnia buddy Groggy.

Keep up the good work . . . Dont even think about any slip ups and certainly don't waste time analysing them . . . I think this is where we went wrong before finding Insomnia Land and got so frustrated when our sleep wasn't like everyone else's. WE ARE VERY SPECIAL in our own sweet way and who cares when we sleep so long as we and our nearest and dearest are ok with it.

Take care and look forward to your next post.

WELL DONE and have a SLIGHT SNOOZE TO CELEBRATE . . . . ANOTHER G&T FOR ME !!!

What a great achievement on next to no sleep, you must feel pleased with yourself and I think sleep will come very easily tonight . . . don't worry what time it comes, just enjoy it . . . you deserve it.

The snow is quite thick and it took a bit of walking here this morning and I am not relishing the thought of walking home as Duggie ( the name I game my AWOL ovary . . . a very long story ! ) was playing up on the way here, along with my back but to be honest I would rather grit my teeth than risk bringing Bianca out in this awful weather. It is not that I doubt my ability as a driver it is the idiot WHITE VAN MEN that drive like there is no snow around as it is no problem to them if they have an accident.

Don't think I will take much rocking tonight as I have been really concentrating on travel claims . . . I wish people could add up . . . or at least fill a form in correctly ! Mind you . . . that is why I am on the case but a few straight forward ones would have been light relief this afternoon. I was glad to catch a few mins to check your posts and get a quicky reply in.

Oh well back to it . . . I have left all the dodgy claims until the end which is not a very bright idea after tirying myself out !

Take care, enjoy your snooze and post to you soon.

    Hiya Groggy

How have you got on with your contract . . . Did you get it finished in time ?

Well . . . I am getting more sleep than I am awake now . . . Back to normal then ( pre insomnia normal that is ! ). I had a slight snooze yesterday afternoon so I would be able to stay awake to watch my TV programme at 6.30 pm and I managed to stay awake until 9.30 pm which was great considering I am prone to snoozing on the sofa when it is dark and I don't have insomnia. I woke up c 2.20 am and went to bed and would have slept through if my neck wasn't aching . . . Gave it a spritz of Biofreeze and voila I was all COMFTY again !

I am sat here starting my day the decadent Menopawsal Insomniac way and am quite looking forward to going to work today. I have lots to do and really enjoy my lunchtime walk with my friend . . . I am walking to work and back again this week as it is snowing again and I am not taking Bianca out in this . . . At least it should get me fit and it has certainly helped me sleep and you never know . . . If a miracle happens . . . I could even lose a pound or two !

Oh well . . . Time to hump in the bath . . . Have a good day and keeeeeeep sleeping.

    Well . . . This is my second attempt at a reply . . .

This flaming iPal and eye sight problems from my injections are driving me up the wall . . . Just got a post nicely started then scrolled up to see what you had put in your earlier posts and Voi Flaming la it had gone into cyberspace . . . Never to be seen again <<<<<<######%%%%%%$$$$$%%%%%%#######>>>>>>> that was a very naughty swear word spelt the Menopawsal Insomniac way !!

Good to read you eventually managed to get some sleep last night . . . I am Tired Ted By Name . . . .Sleepy Time Ted by nature . . . I drop off at the drop of a hat and stay asleep now and don't even seem to be bothered by the many Menopawsal moments / bowel / bladder breaks during play and just seem to be able to roll over Rover.

This isn't magic . . . I have consciously changed my attitude to insomnia and work and put myself first. I sleep when I sleep and I only do work when I am physically at work . . . This is much easier for me as I have the monotony of a 9 to 5ish job where I have to be in the office at certain times of the day so this keeps me on work and in situ. Why don't you try sticking to a standardised 6 to 8 hours working day, just until you sort the stress you are currently having so you can get this job finished for tomorrow ? As Martin says the more you try to sleep the less you are likely to. To save any more stress for this contract why don't you just work through until you either get this contract finished, or sleep takes over and then plan a strategy for when your next contracts come in ?

I too am typing under the cuvs and have to say I am totally frustrated with the 'Allo 'Allo mistooks so am going to clos now as Inwould hate to have to hurl it at the wall in frustration as I would be lost without my iPal !

Take care, be kind to yourself and I will make sure I check your posts more quickly so I am here for you.

    Wowie . . . What a busy, busy bee !

Great to hear how much you have cramed into your Saturday already. You will have to give me your peanut butter recipe, it sounds just my drop.

I have been banished from the kitchen while Mr M whips up a rabbit masterpiece ! I cant eat rabbit so I am doing my enchiladas when his rabbit is in the oven ! What are you cooking tonight as you have put a lot of effort in so far ?

We went to the local shops this morning ( c 20 minutes away ) as I wouldn't take Bianca out and Mr M had a right face on . . . You would think I had asked him to walk 2 days for supplies . . . All on his own ! I bought a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our great shopping expedition so my fingers are not doing what they are supposed to do as it has all gone Ron !

Hope you are having a good day and look forward to your next post.

    Hiya Grogzzzzz

'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . Whose been getting 12 hours sleep then ! Don't worry about that . . . Sleep is sleep and I bet 90 % of the insomniacs on this forum would kill to have that complaint. The way to look at it is you have been doing really well with your early get ups and nap attacks but your body will rebel and revert to type when it can so just go with it. Remember how we overcame the frustration of not sleeping by not getting bothered by it and having a plan to do something nice when we couldn't sleep . . . Enough said!

I can't tell you how many people have said that they have bouts of trouble sleeping since I announced I was a lunatic . . . Oops . . . I mean insomniac ! Non-insomniacs suffer from bouts of not sleeping and just accept it and move on so why shouldn't insomniacs feel the same about sleeping for big slugs of time ?

Good idea on getting more than 1 comfy bed . . . We have a 3 bedroom house but the people who lived here before us had 2 grown up children so the did them beautiful fitted furniture ( especially the girl ) and this means that there is only room for a single bed in the 2 spare rooms. We have one room as the computer / Mr M's games room and the other is the one poor old Mr M trots off to when I am snoring – it is a comfy bed but perhaps not so comfy when you are over 6 foot and broad ! Apparently my snoring has got so bad that the night I slept on the sofa ( I prefer the sofa to the small bed as I end up fighting with the wall ! ) he could hear me upstairs ! I am going to try to lose weight ( de ja flaming vu ! ) as I did go through a phase of not snoring when I lost weight last time.

Have you managed to get much sleep from your early night ? I came upstairs to listen to my enhanced Solfeggio meditation app for the first time c 6.40 pm but my headphones were only playing through 1 ear so I took them out and next thing I was asleep. I woke up a few times thanks to Menopawsal moments ( thank goodness for the spitfire fan I have got ) and bladder requirements but each time I just rolled over, Rover and clocked 7 hours in the sleep bank in one go . . . Not exactly in the right time of day buy am I bovvered ! . . . I would have rolled over again but don't want another too many hours sleep headache . . . Get me . . . Complaining of too much sleep . . . Wouldnt have believed that would happen 4 weeks ago !

I am laid here in the all together with the spitfire blasting ( even though it is quite thick snow outside ! ) with my wedding fascinator on . . . Not a pretty picture let me tell you but I want to see how the fascinator feels as it is on a very delicate headband and I don't want to wear it in front of Mr M. I got it yesterday with my mum . . . We had a fantastic day. We had a personal shopper in Debenhams and got her a great outfit with 2 skirts so she can decide on the day which she wants to wear with the beautiful blouse and jacket. It is a Jaques Vert skirt and top that looks like a dress in a beautiful purple Devore with a very pretty flower pattern and the jacket is very stylish, it was great that she could also get a matching plain skirt with a bit of a rar, rar effect ( older lady rar, rar you understand ! ). We were supposed to get my wedding underwear but we trumped right across town to a very salubrious new restaurant for a very decadent lunch instead . . . we felt a bit under dressed in our wellies and snow boots but we had obviously gone prepared for the forecasted blizzard later on . . . unlike our fellow very glamorous diners ! We were eating later than usual and there was a 20 minute delay and I could see my mum wasn't happy ( thought she was going to start chewing in my arm at one point ! ) but I pacified her with a bottle of wine and all was well . . . See where I get my drink problem from !!!!! Mr M won't go to this restaurant for some reason so I was really pleased to try it and will certainly be going again but just not with him ! Anyway after a lovely lunch and successful shopping trip we got a taxi home c 3.40 pm as the snow had started to come and we were both glad to get home before gridlock took hold as the UK does come to a halt when a few snowflakes fall !

I didn't realise our thread was hot . . . You obviously get the title HOT by the number of posts, rather than the number of postees ! Lets face our thread is really ON FIRE compared to the other threads !

Oh well . . . I have got my other headphones now so back into meditation I go.

Keeeeeeep sleeping and look forward to a post soon x

It is great to hear what progress you have made and how your routine is working.

I couldn't get on with sleeping tablets as I found they make me go into a very deep sleep and wake up feeling really groggy and as if I had had no sleep. My friend gave me some of her insomnia tablets to try which you take 2 tablets 2 hours before bed time and then 2 more once you are in bed. This was a bit trixy for me as I can fall asleep at any time ( when I am exhausted ) and very rarely could forecast 2 hours before bed ! Anyway I tried it and I had the most horrendous of nightmares – rats nipping me and running all over the bed . . . I could actually feel them nipping my hands as this was what woke me up and I couldn't move as I felt paralysed ! I think the feeling awake bit could actually have been part of the nightmare but it was so vivid and felt soooo real . . . I won't touch another sleep tablet now.

I don't have a sleep routine although after the success you have had I may consider starting one. After not sleeping well since 7 July 2013 I have just been pleased with any sleep I could get and had planned pleasurable activities for the long nights when I couldnt sleep. This has worked as I have very rarely needed a wee small hours project since I came up with the plan . . . For me it is mind over matter when I can't sleep . . . Rather than toss and turn in frustration I just get up and get busy ( relaxing / pampering activities only ! ) and then go back to bed when I feel tired agin.

This has been so successful I don't worry about not sleeping anymore and enjoy what ever awake time I get . . . This I suppose in itself is a routine but just not a routine that is set to a specific time of the day.

    What a great idea for a tread Groggy . . .

HAPPY INSOMNIA FREE ( OR EVEN SLIGHTLY IMPROVED ) 2013 to one and all . . . Or as seems more likely . . . . Groggy / Martin and I . . . as we seem to be the only insomniacs in the village !

I can't articulate how Insomnia Land and Martins Sleep Training has changed my world . . . If you are only having a sneaky peek . . . Come on in . . . Join Insomnia Land and Martin's training now and don't wait until you are really desperate.

I have graduated from Sleep School ( Martins Sleep Training ) and feel like a new woman and like I have my life back. I am not cured, as the time of my post indicates, but I now have a different outlook on sleep and the lack of it. I have created a new ' norm ' for my sleeping pattern, which is not the same as non-insomniacs but it works for me and I am at peace with it thanks to this website and Martins invaluable support . . . Oh and my cyber-insomnia buddy Groggy, of course !

I really hope you all get as much out of this website as I did . . . Even a slight change can make a world of difference.

Yours in . . . And out of sleep

A much happier Tired Ted x

    HiyaTired Groggy

Have you managed to snooze ?

Inhave just woken up after 5 hours sleep ( bladder / bowel calling ) and I am sat here bleary eyed and like a little kiddy rubbing my eyes to get them open ! I keep having to take my glasses off so I can see to type but the I can't see the TV to watch the soap I taped. Shouldn't complain as my injection affects my eye sight . . .another downside to the injection but still better than the pain without it.

It is sad to graduate from Martins sleep school but the positive is we are in a much better place than before we enrolled and we have become friends and as far as I am concerned we don't need chronic insomnia to keep us posting. Plus we could be just the Mrs Motivators the new insomniacs need . . . Well if any of them ever read our posts and don't think we are a pair of fruit cakes !

My view is our part of the forum has been a lifeline and made such a difference to me . . . Posts during the night or day . . . It's all the same . . . Support and encouragement and a laugh along the way . . . Perfetto ! I do agree however that it is nice to get a reply in the wee small hours to let you know you are not alone in Insomnia Land !

After reading your last few posts I had a thought . . . Do you think your insomnia could have been made worse by working in the evening because I know when I have been to work I am stimulated ( think a number of my colleagues would beg to differ ! ) and once stimulated that has an effect on the hormone in your brain that promotes sleep ( can't for the life of me think of the name which is a tad embarrassing, given the amount of research I have done ! ). it could be that by concentrating and working you have tricked your brain into thinking that it is thime to start the day and nowhere near time to sleep . . . Like it, or not . . . Our bodies seem to be programmed to GO once we start working.

How about setting a time of say 6.30 pm as the last time you work at night for at least 2 weeks just to see if this makes any difference. If you start today you have the weekend for your body to adjust the shock of this radical change . . . I take it you do allow yourself some time off at the weekend !

Let's make a pact to do only pleasurable / relaxing things to keep us occupied ( if said activities are required ! ) after 6.30 pm. I used to do work at home on nights when I couldn't sleep and was really busy but this just meant my body got no rest and was probably in shock and overdrive. I have stopped this now after the lack of support that I received when I was poorly and what doesn't get done has to wait until tomorrow as there are only so many hours in a day and I do work much harder than most anyway. This is easy for me because my office is not at home and I can have the switch off when I leave the building. Do you have an office at home you could keep for work only and not work anywhere else . . . You could close the door on it and maybe put a poster on the door to say do not enter except within normal working hours and keep the office for work and no other room . . . just as Martin said the bedroom is for sleep and s*x only !

Oh well that is the Chief of Sleep ( and awake Poloce ) over and out for tonight

    Tired Teddy ? . . Ready for Beddy !
