Love Mr Napsy although he looks soooo cute I don't think I would have much will power if he came knocking on my door.

A 2 hour nap is nothing and your body obviously needed it and you more than make up for it by going for a jog. Did you feel energised after your jog ? I have felt full of beans after walking to work but have yawned all the way home for the last 2 nights . . . Just yawned twice when I typed the work yawn . . . Oh, there is another one ! I don't fancy my chances of making 7 pm to night but that is okay.

I am on holiday tipomorrow so can at least stay in bed a little, if I want to . . . Have booked a cuddle with Mr M as he is off as well as he has a hospital appointment. I am doing lunch with my mum and some clothes shopping . . . Snow permitting. It is allegedly going to be a bad day for snow and bitterly cold so we are going to be flexible and do what ever the day permits. Have you had much snow ?

How are you getting on with your purse ? I keep meaning to finish the dress I started but am either too tired, or it is the middle of the night and it would wake Mr M.

How have you got on this aft ? I finished at 4 pm which was nice and my eyes are bobbing after my meal.

Oh well I will sign off now . . . Mr M is looking like he wants a bit of attention.

Take care and post to you soon

Hi Groggy . . . WELL DONE YOU . . . Must go buy another bottle of gin to celebrate.

I don't think we will ever get rid of insomnia completely and I think we just have to learn to live in peace with it . . . Luckily I have years and years of exoerience of failing off the wagon on every diet in the book so I am quite used to slip up and startagain tomorrow !

Remember . . . Our way of sleeping was the norm until that bloke invented electric lighting and the TV's et al came along and everyone jumped on rhe sleep at the same time band waggon.

Sounds strange I know but I quite like my new routine of sleeping early evening and waking up anytime between midnight and 2pm for a bit of time for me and Insomnia Land so I think I am going to call this my new norm . . . SO THERE INSOMNIA !

No problem starting a new thread . . . This one is getting a bit big and it will be good to see how other insomniacs in the village are getting on. You start the thread and let me know when and what it is called and I will join.

Keeeeeeep vertical and enjoy your day and your jog.

How did you manage to get another post in before my reply !

Don't worry about jogging on little sleep . . . Exercise is great for promoting sleep so you will probably get a better sleep tonight.

Don't worry about napping earlier . . . You body needed it and remember . . . You are not the only insomniac in the village this morning . . . What a refreshing change that is !

If you are awake and alert why not start the day extra early and have another go at your purse, or have you finished it ? Sleep is sleep, whenever you get it and it is still going to take time to get this right . . . Insomnia is a very persistent young man . . . Did you notice I said man . . . A woman would have given up bothering us by now because of all of the effort we have been putting in and she would probably be having a G&T ( or three ) with me to celebrate our success !!!!!

Chin up . . . No sleep pressure and do something pleasurable, or relaxing for you, rather than worrying about not getting to sleep . . . In Martins words . . The more you try to sleep . . . The less chance you have of actually getting to sleep . . . 'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . Whose worrying too much ere then !

    Hiya Groggy

Don't worry . . . I will still be here for you, even if I am cured and a bit late with my replies !

I am sat here awake now so am not really cured . . . I have just learnt to accept that being awake in the wee small hours is okay, especially as I have 5 hours in the sleep bank already ! I fel asleep c 7.20 pm and woke up 5 hours later and decided to watch one of the soaps I had missed earlier as I was conscious that if I went to bed and slept through ( God forbid ! ) I would have had10 hours sleep and I didn't want to do this as I seem to wake up with a headache if I get too much sleep these days. I have Walked 3 hours over the last 2 days ( an hour to work and back each day and half an hour at lunch with my friend ) and I think this has help me sleep as I yawned all the way home tonight . . .I was really surprised I managed to stay awake until 7.20 pm !

I am quite happy with my Alcoholics Unanimous reputation and would you believe I didn't have a G&T in the end as I found a smidgen of will power ( more to the point there was only a smidgen of gin left ~ so it would have meant having much more T than G ! ) I have just done an essence of G&T as I was really dry and it is the early hours after all !

I decided to not wake Mr M by going to bed as he is tired and it will do him good to get a full night in the COMFTY bye bo's . . . Think I will get in bed early doors on Friday snd have a long luxurious night for a treat I am on holiday Friday and I was taking my mum to one of the shopping centres out of town to get her wedding outfit but the roads where we live are compacted ice and Friday is a bad day for snow so we are just going into the city centre for a bit of shopping and for a nice lunch . . . We will look very glamorous in snow boots and Wellies but at least it beats being at work ! I have booked 1 February as holiday and hope that the snow has cleared by then so we can have a good shopping day.

Oh well I will close now . . . Time to roll over Rover and get the last couple of hours in the sleep bank . . . Hope you manage to get some ZZZ's and post to you soon.

Ditto Groggy . . . posting to you and receiving your posts has been as valuable to me as receiving Martin's e-mails. Thank goodness we found each other, otherwise we would still be sooky / menopawsal insomniacs climbing the walls alone and we still appear to the be only insomniacs in this village !

Being the Sleep Police with you has made me keep looking at insomnia positively myself as I would be no Chief Constable if I didn't practice what I preach . . . 'Ello . . 'Ello . . .'Ello whose not sleeping ere then !

Your kind words have turned my celebratory G&T into 2 celebratory G&T's tonight . . . do you have a celebratory tipple, or am I the only alcholic in the Insomnia Village ?

I am not expecting to have kicked insomnia into touch just yet although I do seem to be doing rather well . . . it is quite interesting that I have gone from watching the forum pages during the wee small hours to having to make an effort to fit them in inbetween getting to bed / Mr M leaving the room due to snoregate and getting up for work ! Can't remember the last time I had a wee small hours project and I haven't touched the book since the weekend . . . could do with a spot of wee small hours insomnia to get my jobs done – hope I haven't tempted fate here ! Didn't I tell you insomnia would get fed up if we had a pleasureable project to do in the wee small hours when he inconveniently made us awake up and not be able to get back to sleep.

Take care and post to you soon.

You never need to apologise to me . . . as a fellow insomniac who has turned the insomnia thing on its head I am more than happy to read and analyze all of the details !

I think you have done soooo well with this and lets face it 10.00 am isn't exactly late and you have been e-mailing but just in the horizontal, rather than vertical . . . I would call that a rather decadent wake up regime to be enjoyed on a 1 day a week basis . . . you have just had Saturday, or Sunday lie in a few days early.

You are really getting the hang of losing the guilt and going with the flow which is great news.

I had a bit of a strange start which was all beautifully explained in my AWOL message . . . fell asleep on settee c 7.20 pm which was great progress for me and then went to bed at what I thought was 11.40 but must have been 10.40 pm . . . must check the clock . . . meant to do it when I got in but that Menopawsal Memory Loss struck again and I forgot ! Anyway I managed to sneak in bed without Mr M realising ( or at least not moving to indicate he was awake ) All ways going swimmingly until . . . yes . . . de ja vu . . . see my previous post for details !

This will have to be short and sweet as I am at work . . . keep up the good work . . . celebrate your success and don't worry about me . . . keep up the good work as I am supposed to be on a diet and celebrating your success means I can enjoy a G&T !

BUGG*R . . . Apologies if I have offended anyone here but I had typed a reply to Grogz and went to the previous page to see if I had missed replying to anything from the message before last and got back to find my reply had gone. If you're have picked up anything about me from my posts you will know how much I will have typed and why that rudey doodie word was appropriate !

Well Grogz my eyes are closing so this will be shorter than usual, especially as it is my second reply as the first went AWOL !

What fantastic progress having a nap, enjoying it and not feeling guilty . . . Phase II well under way me thinks . . . Another industrial G&T to celebreat for me then ! Sorry to hear you have had a stressful night and I hope you can get at least a few zzz's if the ZZZ's are not forthcoming.

Mr M and his pillows have just cleared off to his wee ' quiet ' room . . . Naughty Tired Teddy . . . Snoring again and not feeling guilty . . . Take a leaf out of my book . . . I can't even spell Guilky these days, never mind feel it ! 'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . 'Ello . . . wots goin on ere then !

I am closing now as my eyes are going and I don't want to miss the sleep boat.

Oh dear . . . Oh dear . . . Oh dear . . . The sleep police was to help you not worry, or scare you ! I really do think you should be pleased with how far you have come so far. . . You have been up early for a whole week now . . . That is Phase I . . . How about taking the pressure off this week and just concentrate on that . . . You could then implement Phase II next week, which could be to say stay vertical until mid day for 2 weeks and then set Phase III for the following 2 weeks etc ?

Well I decided to sleep on the sofa last night so Mr M could get a full night in the comfty bye bo' s . . . He shouted down c 3.40 am to see if I wanted a cuddle . . . Well as usual . . . The cuddie was going soooo well ( he didn't want to play eye spy surprisingly ! ) and then . . . Yes . . . You have guessed it . . . I started snoring ! He stomped off ( won't fall into the cuddie trap tomorrow ! ) and I was left totally confused . . . Couldn't decide if I was awake, or asleep ! Anyway I bobbed off and then my mobile alarm woke Grumpy Drawers up and I bombed out of bed after a slight roll over Rover.

We are having Cassoulet for our meal tonight so I had to make it this morning so it would cook in time as Mr M likes to eat early. Anyway this went down like a lead balloon as the kitchen was a tip when he came in ( he has got OCD as far as tidy kitchens are concerned ! ) and he snapped at me and I snapped at him and we ended up ignoring each other ! Trouble was we were both running behind because we were later than we would like due to Cuddiegate . . . He has called to let me know how dangerous the roads and paths are today so I will take that as an apology !

Oh well, I had better close as I am late for humping in the bath and need to set off earlier today as I am walking. Enjoy watching the chaos from your lovely warm room and think of me on my way to the North Pole on foot. Luckily the MENOPAWS means I am grateful for the cold weather . . . I bet I was the only person in the UK with the sunroof and windows open and cool blowers blowing last Thursday when it was frosty !

Yes my car does park itself and is amazing . . . Trouble is it gets you in a much smaller spot than you would try to get in yourself and you have the embarrassment of trying yo get out of it . . . My friend and I love doing jazz hands when Bianca ( the name I gave my car ) parks without us !

Have a snugly, warm and guilt free day . . . Have yourself a slight snooze part way through . . . It will probably help younstay awake longer into the afternoon and early evening.

    Hi Ho . . . Hi Ho . . . It's off to The North Pole I go !

Well Grogz . . . I am on the edge of my seat . . . Don't know if you can get Revenge where you are but it is FANTASTIC. it is on E4 so have a look if you get chance. There are soooo many twists and turns, which is a bit trixy for an insomniac but by does it wake you up when you are half in and half out of sleep !

I did laugh at your Etsy story . . . Good to know I am not the only one in the village with Menopawsal Memory Loss !

How is the snow where you are ? I went for my usual walk with my friend at lunch and it was a bit snowy but not the type that looked like it would settle but within an hour it was really settling and by the time I got to my car c 3.40 pm there was almost 3 inches of snow on the roof ! I am only short ( short and stout ! ) and my new car is tall so it had a bit of snow stuck on the roof which would have been no good once it melted in its basket ( the garage ). The snow has turned into ice now so I am going to walk to work to work today as my new car has magic parking and I am trying to limit the chances of a bump on the bumpers as this is where the parking sensors are, plus sometimes it is gridlock here and it will probably be quicker to walk . . . A few inches of snow and the UK comes to a standstill ! I am lucky as I am only 6 minutes from work on a good day, with no traffic or 25 minutes when walking and I do love a nice walk . . . Thank goodness I bought some snow boots a few weeks ago !

Try not to worry about your sleep / work ratio . . . You are in the fortunate position of working from home so you can sleep and work as your body dictates. You have started getting up early, which is a major achievement when there is no reason to have to get up so early. If I were you I would continue to get up early for the time being and then just go with the flow as far as what happens next.

Just before Christmas I would have been devastated at being awake at this time of morning, especially as Inhave work today and have to be there until 4.30 pm as I have to work formalised hours, rather than the flexi I had been working ( very helpful to a girl with insomnia ! ) but heigh ho . . . I am taking my own advice and just going with the flow ! At least you are able to bob off tomorrow, if you need to . . . at this rate I see me face down on my desk mid morning tomorrow !

Please don't worry about sleep, or the lack of it . . . The sleep police are on you case now ( I am the Chief Constable of The Sleep Police and would look great in uniform ! )

Oh well, time to close . . . Remember . . . No sleep worries . . . It will come, or it won't . . . One step at a time sweet Jesus which at this early stage means getting up at the same time every day . . . 'Ello, 'Ello, 'Ello . . . Your body will soon fall in line !

What is wrong with a slight snooze in the afternoon when you got up so early ?

Turn it on its head, you were due a snooze after being up 5 hours and you now have 3.5 hours in your sleep bank for today . . . no problem . . . you are just having a different sleep pattern to others . . . I went to bed yesteday for 4 hours mid afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it and was then able to stay awake for my TV programmes and would never have been able to watch them had I not had a slight snooze.

You are not a fool and this wasn't even a blip, it is just your bodys way of coping with getting up so flaming early. You are doing better than most because you don't actually have to turn out to work so it doesn't matter what time you get up so be proud of yourself for getting up so early when you don't need to.

Don't forget to tell me about your weekend cute Etsy experience.

TTFN as I have a meeting I have to go to.

I love reading your posts and they always put a smile on my face so thanks pal !

WELL DONE on getting up so early on a Monday morning . . . don't worry on how you feel . . . CELEBRATE the fact that you are vertical and out of bed . . . one step at a time sweet Jesus ! This is the second week of you getting up early and is a great achievement . . . think I will have another INDUSTRIAL G&T to celebrate your success after work tonight !!!!

I got up earlier than I had planned this morning as I had a headache . . . too much sleep in the bank me thinks !

I have just replied to a private message from LisaJayne and I have invited her to join our conversations as she is like we used to be . . . awake in the wee small hours . . . I told her we are happy for other insomniacs to join us as we have felt like the only insomniacs in the village since we started this thread . . . Think we must have one of the longest threads . . . wonder if there is a prize !

Oh well I will close now as it is time to hump in the shower !! as my coffee pot is empty . . . another decadent and luxurious awake session enjoyed !

Keeeeeep vertical and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Well that was a very positive post Groz and it is good to hear that you are looking at lack of night time sleep in a different way.

I do think that that is Martins theory and that is what has happened for me . . . I think the idea is that you learn to not worry about not sleeping so much and gradually accept it to the point that before you know it your sleep is where it should be. I think it is mind over matter and that it will probably never go per se but it will become our norm, which may not be the same as non-insomniacs but acceptable for us. Acceptance is so much better than frustration and works much better for sleeping.

I think expecting your new sleep regime to possibly take 6 months to kick in is a great idea . . . You have had insomnia sooooo long so it is naturally going to take some beating . . . I am happy for such a great improvement so far and Like you people have noticed I look and seem better so how much more could we hope for in such a short period of time . . . We only joined Insomnia Land a few weeks ago and I personally think we have made great progress and I am proud of what we have achieved and the friendship we have found. I would definitely have rolled over and got back to sleep if I hadn't wanted to see if you were in or out of sleep . . . Not complaining, it made me feel in control of my sleep for the first time in ages because I chose to wake up at silly o'clock to talk to my pal and was not forced awake and frustrated with insomnia !

I have had quite a normalised sleep day. I got up c 5.30 am ( only because I had book ideas flowing and didn't want to lose them in Menopawsal Memory Loss ) and we then went out for lunch c 12.15 pm and got back c 2.30 pm at which point I went for a slight snooze as Mr M was watching footie and got up at 6.20 pm when my alarm for Dancing on Ice went off ( just a tad over a slight snooze and just short of a MEGA one ! ) I then proceeded to stay awake enough to watch my TV shows and a recording and fell asleep c11.00 pm and came to bed at what I though was 3.00 am but must have been 2.00 am . . . Insomnia eyes half open and not seeing the right thing again ! Mr M was in situ and wanted a cuddle as his insomnia was playing up ! The cuddle was going well until he wanted to play eye spy . . . cant wait to ask if he wants to play eye spy next time I come to bed and he is pleasantly in the land of nod . . . Don't think the answer will be the polite no thank you I gave earlier !!!!!

Anyway . . . Luckily I was breathing loudly . . . Don't even need to snore these days and he was offski . . . Pillows under his arms and I was left with a pain in the neck . . . Literally and laterally ! I thought I would have a quick look to see if you had posted and reply before rolling over Rover. I have sprayed my neck with my magic potion BIOFREEZE and it is starting to ease so I will try to bob off again now, or do a meditation.

Hope you are getting some sleep in the right part of the day, or making the best of it if not . . . Think we need to find you something a bit more relaxing than accounting for the wee small hours !

Morning morning ( didn't think it was the right time of day for nightie night ! )

    Keeeeeeep sleeping.

    TT. X
