“Amino acid treatment” is something where they check your neurotransmitter levels. They check your levels of Serotonin, GABA, etc…Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that helps with your sleep. If your serotonin levels are lower than normal levels , they prescribe you some amino acid supplements to bring your neurotransmitters back to normal. For me the levels have been going up and down and I do experience variation in my sleep as they change. I am getting my neurotransmitter levels checked at Neurogistics.com. Hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you need any other information.

My Insomnia started 3 years ago. I was getting up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep but that caused lot of anxiety and I went to into depression. I was prescribed with anti-depressants and sleep aids. I was hesitant to take anti-depressants hence I have never taken them. I started going to some spiritual gatherings and those helped me a lot to recover from depression and anxiety.

With respect to sleep, I have started following sleep hygiene that helped me only a little though. I suffered with severe anxiety when I go to bed for almost 1.5 years or so which made my insomnia worse.

    I have tried

    1. Sleep tracks from Yan

    2. Fisher wallace stimulator

and unfortunately none of them helped me.

I have also get my neurotransmitter levels tested and have been on amino acid therapy for the past one year and which seem to help me with my sleep a little. I am taking 5-HTP which supports serotonin.

I am taking 3 mg of Melatonin every night. I am getting 3 to 4 hours of sleep now after that I sleep but I turn and toss a lot. I am not getting deep sleep and 3 to 4 hours is not enough to be active the following day.

I am using melatonin and it helps me to get into sleep but after 2 to 3 hours I wake up and then even If I take melatonin it won't help. I get very minimal amount of sleep and that is not deep either 🙁
