Shutter Island comes out this Friday in the UK and I'm quite looking forward to that. Also just got around to seeing 500 days of Summer this week. That was a lot better then I was expecting. I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's work. Anyone see The Lookout? He was great in that.

Shutter Island was AMAZING. Just saying 🙂

Ooo – look at you! We've now got our first Insomnia Land Diva!!

What are you going to go for? Something else music inspired?

Actually, I decided on getting a Nigerian flag between my scapulae. But when I do get my next music tat, it'll be a gun (38 special) shooting out musical notes and broken hearts 😉

I am addicted to the American Author Ellen Hopkins.

    Whitney Lyles is good, too.

I know those are authors, not books, but anything they write is good. I was reading Ellen Hopkins new book called Tricks Friday and couldn't leave it alone to go and eat!

Okay, I know this was bashing tattoos (at least on her body), but a couple of weeks ago in an interview Kim Kardashian was asked if she would ever get a tattoo. I thought it was so funny how she replied, “Would you put a bumper sticker on a Bentley?!”

The next day I saw a bumper sticker on a Porsche. Not quite a Bentley, but still the same principle.

Has anyone seen Shutter Island?? Now THAT was a film!!!!

On Sweney Todd, I only really liked when they were singing lol. When the 'rads and I watch it, we only watch the singing parts.

Blind Side was good. Zombieland looked dumb and so did Avatar, so I didn't go and see them. Alice was booked out but apparently several people had spare tix & thought I'd already seen it (people always think I'm busy 😡 but I never am).

The books are usually better than the movies in my humble opinion, but the movies kind of enhance the books at the same time. Gives a visual.

Welcome to the community – it's great to have you as a member and I can't wait to read more of your posts. You've nailed the exact vision I have for Insomnia Land which makes me very excited; I am sure you'll be a great asset to the group.

By the way, what do we call you for short? Any nickname or whatnot?

My wife and I may be in California around June time – maybe we need to arrange the first Insomnia Land meetup!

Funny story, after I visit home (NYC) in late May/early June, my bffl & I are probably going to Cali 😛

It's a fitting time to make my first post to this site – half-past-two in the morning and sleepless.

I've been both a chronic insomniac and a late night sort of denizen since the age of around 11. My earliest memories of such revolve around flashlight reading, and gaming on the PC with a rolled up towel under my door to block the light from the monitor from escaping under the door in case my mother woke up and saw me up. Trouble would ensue if she ever found out I was up late on a school night.

I live and write in Los Angeles. And frankly, the city doesn't stay up late enough for my tastes. You'd think it would. Even the “Insomnia Cafe” closes at 2. Which means I'm SOL if I want a 3am coffee, a table to write and a wifi signal.

It's my hope to connect with other insomniacs, sleep disorder-ers, late birds and the wicked & other restless sorts on this site. I've a few things to share about insomnia and what I believe to be major contributing factors, and I'd like to know and learn more about what keeps you up at night. Maybe in the information exchange, we'll all have something that'll be useful to one another and perhaps we'll all sleep a little better for it.

In the meantime, I highly recommend the new Massive Attack album, “Heligoland”. It probably won't put you to sleep but it's a fantastic late night companion.

Insomnia Cafe closes at two? doesn't really sound like a good idea lol but it probably has something to do with state law. i know here (Alabama it does). Well, as a future Congress-Woman of SoCal, I will fix that. When I become a Congress-Woman 😀

You guys are so fun. I wish I could Waltz, and I used to do a little Salsa before my Puerto Rican friend went off to serve the USA. I mostly do Hip-Hop and modern dance. I used to teach little kids when I was still in HS/SS. Now, I just dance at clubs and if there's a dance-off, I'm sure to be in it. I also did a majority or choreo for my sorority before I transfered. 🙄

Being Nigerian I've obviously been to Nigeria. I've also been to France, Italy, Ghana, Switzerland, and China. And I live in the states and have been to almost over state on the eastern half of the country, and Louisiana and Texas.
