Long story short: I am 31 now and my insomnia started with 18. It started out with an obsession, thinking I had to fight for sleep and it ruined my day when I wouldn’t sleep well. I thought I looked horrible and didn’t have any energy when sleeping bad.
I would feel weird about it because nobody in my surroundings had this problem and I was told to ”get a life” for obsessing so much about sleep. People acted like I was just a drama queen or actor for struggling with this.
In my 20s it got better and had times where I would sleep better, but the insomnia obsession would always return. I still had all kinds of wrong believes and behavior/ thought patterns around sleep.
And the I would sleep okay again and I thought the problem was solved until it returned.

I saw something about CBTI on youtube and that made me search for CBTI/ Insomnia on spotify and found Martin Reed.
After 13 years of Insomnia a piece of sleeping advice never felt so personal, complete and fitting for me. I never felt so understood in my sleeping problems and all of your stories are so similar, it’s incredible.

I would like to end with saying that the CBTI path will be the path for me and to the other people who are also still struggling: we are onto something!!!

Sorry to hear of the lack of support you faced when things were so difficult for you.

I am so glad to hear you feel you’ve now found some support and feel more understood. Although it probably felt like it, you were never alone — and you certainly are not alone today.

I wish you all the best with the new path you find yourself on 🙂
