What should I do if I wake up in the middle of the night (2-4 am) and can’t fall back asleep, despite being drowsy and in the perfect condition to fall asleep?

On good nights, I’ll able to fall asleep at 11 pm-12 am but I find myself waking up at 2-4 am, instantly, I think “Wow I’ve fallen asleep” and can’t go back to sleep despite being drowsy and in the perfect condition to fall asleep. Should I endure my sleepiness and start my day? What if I start my day but than at like 9 am I start to feel sleepy again, should I fall back to sleep?

I also wonder if taking naps (2 hours) at the afternoon to make up from my lack of sleep okay? Or should I just take 30 minute naps? Or is any naps not okay because it can contribute to not being able to fall asleep when its time for sleeping at the afternoon?

If you feel comfortable when you wake during the night, perhaps there’s no need to do anything? Perhaps you can rest instead of trying to make sleep happen and allow sleep to show up if it chooses to do so, until your normal out of bed time?

As for the naps — totally up to you. You might want to consider that sleeping during the day might make sleep at night more difficult.
