Am I the only one with this kind of Insomnia? My Insomnia = ZERO Sleep

      Ok… The Insomnia I have seems to be different. I was reading all kind of stories about Insomnia problems here, but I think mine It’s different because I can’t sleep… I mean my Insomnia is ZERO minutes without sleep.

      About six months ago, my insomnia came suddenly, I was unable to sleep all night without any reasons, and I was worried because I was new on  this.  Today this is my second day wth 38 hours without sleep, 38 hours straight. Other times can be 50 hours straight without any kind of sleep. People here says they have insomnia but they are able to sleep 4 hours or 5, but Im unable to sleep even 1 minute.  Today I m stressed and with anxiety because I don t feel tired or sleepy. but I want to sleep just because I m think I could die if I don t do it.

      When I go to bed, I m starting feeling worried to get some sleep and the anxiety comes, because I think I could die becase my deprivation.

      The reason I wrote this thread is for any help, and just to know if you think this kind of Insomnia is normal, I mean, I could have 38 hours straight with no sleep even 1 minute, sometimes i had 50 hours (2 days without sleep) Then, when i finally sleep , it can pass 1 or 2 weeks sleeping good and then without any reasons suddenly the insomnia comes… how? Just can t fall sleep all night.

      Is there someone having the same problem of ZERO Sleep, Totally sleep days with any kind of sleep?

          Hello John and I’m sorry to hear about your issues with sleep. It sounds as though you are experiencing hyperarousal — this is when your arousal system (also known as the fight or flight system) is highly sensitive and easily activated. Since the arousal system is able to suspend sleep, this explains why you often go without sleep for long periods of time — but you always sleep in the end because, eventually, the biological drive to sleep is able to overpower the arousal system.

          Have you sought medical advice for your sleep problems? Have you looked into CBT for insomnia (CBT-I)? CBT-I helps reduce the power of the arousal system while strengthening the biological mechanisms that promote sleep (sleep drive/sleep pressure and the internal sleep/wake cycle). From what you’ve shared so far, it sounds as though you may find it helpful.
