      Hello, Everyone,

I'm brand new here. I think it's great that something like this exists for insomniacs. And thank you Martin for admitting me to Insomnia Land.

I'm 54 years old and have been a chronic insomniac since September of '79. Thirty-plus years now. Insomnia never gets easier to live with. The older you get, the more difficult it becomes. Five hours of sleep now equals about one or two hours years 30 years ago.

Fortunately, I'm sleeping better now than I have since it started. But, I still have my share of bad nights.

I have a great wife of almost 35 years who has put up with my lack of sleep this whole time. She's out when her head hits the pillow. I'm so jealous…not really.

On January 27 of this year I launched my blog Insomnia Simply Sucks. I'm slowly documenting my life with insomnia, hoping to help anyone who is stricken with it. It's at http://www.insomniasimplysucks.com if anyone is interested. (I'm not selling anything. It's not a blog for making money.)

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you over time.

Welcome. Nice to have here. It's great that you have a supportive wife. It can be tough in relationships, when you're sleep cycles are completely out of whack and NOT in sync. And congrats on 35 years of marriage. That is awesome. Hope to see you around.

                    Hi Mike,

                    Nice to meet you!

I also write fiction and I have a fondness for American muscle cars (in particular the early 70s Buick Rivera with the tail design on the boot/ trunk. When I grow up, I'd like to get one).

The fact your insomnia stems from 1979 also hit home for me – it's the year I was born!

Welcome to the forum, it's a great place to hang out 🙂

                        Hi, Kik,

Thanks for your greeting. It's nice to meet you, too.

It's also nice to learn that you write fiction and enjoy muscle cars.

In 1972, a friend bought a 1965 Riviera while we were in high school. It had the 401 engine with two four-barrel carburetors. For a 5,000 pound car, it would really move.

I no longer do any hotrodding, but I do still love the muscle cars.

                        Mike

                            Hi, emmaree,

Thanks for your greeting. It's nice to know you.

Yes, I've tried just about everything for my insomnia. Some worked; most didn't. I've learned to live with it, but that doesn't make life any easier.

                            Is that Sydney, NSW?
