I’ve been struggling w insomnia for awhile, on rare occasions i get sleep. Think the few days of opioid after my surgery helped but was so drowsy during the day. Stopped taking that. Back to my usual issues of sleep. Ive tried OTC sleep aids they make me tired I go to bed, if I can sleep im up within hours, sometimes they make me tired go to bed and then I can’t sleep. I have bad anxiety for decades so have racing thoughts at night and during the day (day on bad days). Ive tried breathing techniques, sleep podcasts, otc stuff, praying which that used to help racing mind has gotten worse, exercising, Journaling. It effects my body in a negative way get sick more etc. I want help so bad in this area.

        Hello, welcome to the forum!

The more we try to fix our sleep, the more elusive sleep becomes because our mind doesn’t reward our hard efforts in trying to fix the problem. It’s not uncommon for us to try everything we find on the Internet but most of those “remedies” don’t tackle the root cause of our insomnia – our thoughts and behaviors toward our sleep. When you start to worry about sleep, what is going through your mind? If you’re unable to fall asleep or stay asleep, might there be anything you could do to make that wakefulness more pleasant?
