      1. Biggest challenge is anxiety.  The minute I get into bed my body starts to react because I fear not sleeping and not coping my heart rate increases and I can’t relax im on sleeping tabs and antidepressants I don’t know what the Answer is I feel desperate.  I seem at the moment to not sleep every second night.  Also as I’m falling asleep my body sometimes wakes me up about with a burst of adrenaline it’s a living hell

        I’m not a doctor, but I do have a similar problem. I have two thoughts for you:

        1) Martin Reed actually gives a really good idea for this. Take a note card and write: “If I don’t fall asleep tonight it’s no big deal. I’ll just relax and see what happens.” Put it next to your bed and read it every night.

        2) I have really benefited from listening to guided sleep meditations. First I started listening to free hypnosis sessions for sleep but then I switched over to a free app called Insight Timer which has many sleep/deep relaxation meditations specifically designed so you can drift off to sleep during or at the end. Probably 95% of the time, I fall asleep before finishing the sleep meditation (I usually aim for the ones that are at least 30 minutes long).
