I wonder if this is the key insight in your post, Fifi: I can’t stop thinking
Thoughts can be really difficult and unhelpful and distracting — and they show up whether we want them to or not. The more we try to fight or avoid them, the more likely we are to get tangled up in an endless and exhausting struggle with them. And that struggle makes everything more difficult, just as you described.
Perhaps moving away from struggling with the thoughts your mind generates as it does its job of looking out for you might help to make things a little bit less difficult? If nothing else, you might free up some energy that would otherwise be used in that tug of war with your mind — a tug of war that only ever has one winner (your mind).
