This is my first post talking about insomnia which has been an issue for me for many years.

It’s got to the stage where I am existing on 3 hours a night (if lucky) and dread going to bed. As no matter how tired I am, the minute I hit the mattress,  I wake up. My heart beats loudly and no amount of deep breathing,  reading,  meditation,  or listening to a podcast seems to stop my anxious thoughts about getting to sleep.

I have joined the forum to chat to others who are experiencing the same as me and perhaps find help and advice in how to deal with what sometimes feels like some “living hell”!

I can very much relate yo you. It’s very similar for me. I am doing now Somstio Emotional Trauma Therapie and look at my body condition from an Ayurvedic point of you.

i am lucky to have found a very good therapist which I have a good rapor with, for me it needs to be body oriented

It’s little wonder that you dread going to bed when, as soon as you get into bed, you tend to immediately feel alert and awake. This usually suggests that you have associated the bed with wakefulness rather than sleep and your arousal system is overriding your natural urge to sleep as soon as you get into bed.

Fortunately, these issues are usually successfully treated using CBT-I techniques. Have you discussed this (or your sleep in general) with your doctor?
