December 13, 2011 at 5:39 am #13365I've just had the worst night I've had for ages. It's not 5.40 am and I've been awake since about 1 am trying to go back to sleep. If anyone looks at me wrong today or says the wrong thing they'll get both barrels. 😡
December 13, 2011 at 7:36 pm #13366Ugh. Jane, you really should look into CBT or even basic “sleep hygiene”. I think it could help you; do you lie in bed that whole time trying to force yourself to sleep? If so, that very rarely works!

December 14, 2011 at 10:43 am #13367Yep that's exactly what I do Martin. I'm all warm and cosy and I just want to sleep. Thankfully I had a slightly better night last night so everyone is safe today. 😆
December 19, 2011 at 7:57 am #13368I'm absolutely shattered. I've been awake since 4am. My eyes are gritty. The kids are still asleep, it's so unfair. 🙁
December 20, 2011 at 6:53 am #13369I have had a CRAP night. My daughter isn't too well so I was up with her. I think I finally fell asleep around midnight and woke up about 4 ish. I feel like crap. My eyes are gritty. Everyone else is zzzzzzzzzzzzing away. It's so unfair. 😡
December 21, 2011 at 7:19 pm #13370Jane – were you able to sleep before having kids, or have your sleep issues come since parenthood?

December 22, 2011 at 5:57 am #13371Since parenthood I think Martin. I've been so used to having my sleep constantly interrupted when they were little, I've got used to it. Plus of course I'm constantly worrying about my son, so when I wake up in the night my brain is whirring around thinking about that.
So here I am at 5.55am, just me the cats and google. 🙂
December 23, 2011 at 1:03 pm #13372I am surprised we don't hear more about parenthood being a trigger for LONG term sleep problems. All we normally hear about are issues during infancy – not over the long term. I bet it's more common that we'd expect.

December 24, 2011 at 5:43 am #13373Well I've been awake since 4am now, and I got up at 4.45. I just can't sleep, although I want too.
I remember when my two eldest was smaller Martin, they used to wake up around 5am every day, I spent their younger years like a zombie.
December 27, 2011 at 8:10 am #13374On Christmas Day I was awake at 2am. I couldn't get back to sleep so I came downstairs and sat and watched RoadWars. It's about the police and the cameras follow them as they respond to calls and sort out the bad guys. I watched that for 2 hours until 4, then tried to get some sleep on the couch for a couple of hours. At 6am I gave up and got up. Needless to say I was SHATTERED at the end of the day.
December 27, 2011 at 11:17 am #13375Yikes! You were just too excited to sleep, weren't you?! Santa doesn't visit if you don't go to sleep, you know!

December 27, 2011 at 11:50 am #13376😆
I dunno what was wrong with me, I was having a weird dream about burglars breaking in and pinching all the prezzies!! Never fear, I've got my sons cricket bat to hand. 😆
I slept a bit better last night though.
January 1, 2012 at 8:59 am #13377Well last nights *sleep* was awful!!! My brain would not shut up. I've spent most of the night trying to go sleep!! 😡
