Anyone else here have problems with sleep during or after hospital stays?

I have recently been in hospital for a week, was on enforced bed rest and hardly slept the entire time I was there…and the pain after the procedure didn't help either.

I'm back home now…been home for a couple of weeks, but sleep is being just as elusive. The pain doesn't help of course…but all I seem to be able to do is catnap here and there.

Anyone else have this kind of issue? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

So sorry to hear you had to stay in the hospital! And have pain- yuck. I , myself, haven't had to stay in the hospital for a long time- my daughter has had a few stays and I sure didn't sleep well then but what Mom could? I have had to endure pain, though, recently that interrupted my sleep. My daughter grabbed my hot, very hot, tea, before I could stop her ( to hand it to me – she loves to hand me things-I wasn't feeling well and she wanted to help- she has MR) and some sloshed on her finger( thank God it was only a little on her finger- I cring to think it could have been her burnt!) and she instinctively threw the cup away from her – all over my left side.I waas in a very thin dress and , well, ended up at the ER with second degree burns. THAT was a sleep stopper for sure! Even with the pain meds- though I would not let them give me any vicadin or other “euphoria inducing” *pills as I have seen too many people get hooked and with my sleep problems I was afraid I would be an easy target for dependency .

I wish I could offer you some advice but I really don't have any. all I can do is wish you well and hope you get better soon!

Well, I head back to the doctors tomorrow morning, I have developed even worse headaches than usual as well as aches in my knees and one hip. Where I take anticoagulants, there is a risk on the headaches being due to a bleed, so I may need a CT scan.

So, I'm guessing I could end up back in hospital again…but with any luck this time no enforced bed rest!

I just hope there will be some way to get some proper sleep after seeing the doc…we shall see.

Maybe a mallet over the head? I mean, you already have a headache anyway, right? 😉
