I know some of you are reading something with all that time laying awake in bed. What are you reading right now? Fav Books??
January 28, 2011 at 7:32 pm #12034I have a Sony eReader and love the thing. Right now I am reading Tony Blair's autobiography. As for a favorite book, I really liked 'Pillars of the Earth' by Ken Follett.
What are you reading at the moment, Aimee?

January 30, 2011 at 3:20 pm #12035For the moment I'm reading the “quantum gravity” series by Justina Robson. I finished the 2nd book yesterday and now I'm waiting to get the third one delivered by mail.
It's really hard to get English books around here. I order them on 'thebookdepository.com'. The don't charge mail costs.
I don't have a favourite book. I've read to many. I do have some favourite authors:
Janet Evanovich (Stepanie Plum series)
Kelley Armstrong (Otherworld series)
Richelle Mead (Succubus series)
Charlaine Harris (Southern Vampire Mysteries) I like the books better than the series. Although I keep watching. I just can't get enough of Eric Northmann, yummy!
L.J. Smith (Vampire Diairies, Secret Circle, Nightworld)
Dan Brown
Anthony Horrowitz (The power of five)
Stephenie Meyer (especially 'The Host', not so much the Twilight series)
There are many more, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

*Cries at Stephanie Meyer's name because I hate her*
February 3, 2011 at 7:56 pm #12037I realised at the start of this week I had three books on the go without knowing it. Just finished I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, currently finishing Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut and I've got Brave New World by Aldous Huxley to go. There might actually be a fourth…I'm not sure…
Favourite books are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I do like my dystopian novels.

Why doe you hate her?
Not that I'm such a big fan…
February 4, 2011 at 12:57 am #12039It's also hard for me to say what my very favorite book is, because there have been so many.
I read a lot of textbooks, but only because I have to. Right now I am reading a couple non-fiction books. One is called The China Study (on nutrition) and another is called Dominion (animal advocacy book). I do some work with animal advocacy so I have read quite a few books on that topic. However, when I am finished with those two, I'm going to find a good fiction novel to read..possibly something fantasy…any suggestions?
February 4, 2011 at 12:58 am #12040What did you think about Slaughterhouse? Thats on my “to read” list. So is Hitchhikers Guide

Because she is a terrible writer (In my opinion… well in most English professors' and students opinions) Blah. I have not read The Host. I couldn't bring myself to do it after the Twilight books. Not because of the story, because of the writing. So bad.
February 4, 2011 at 5:13 am #12042Okay, a few books I really like come to mind:
Watership Down
Life of Pi
Middlesex
The Namesake
Kite Runner
Nineteen Eighty Four
Eating Animals
Joy Luck Club
Maus I and II
The Last Lecture
Babylon's Ark
February 4, 2011 at 7:34 pm #12043Kite Runner is a good book. Did you see the movie, Aimee?

February 5, 2011 at 2:58 am #12044Yes, I saw it. Often times when you read a book first then see the movie, the movie seems to come up short. Although I thought the movie was really good, even after reading the book. Did you read 1000 Splendid Suns? I heard that was good too but never read it.

February 7, 2011 at 7:24 pm #12045Is that the other book by the same author? If so, no I haven't read it but I've been told it's good. I might put it on the reading list when I'm done with Tony Blair!
