If you’re anxious or frustrated when you wake in the middle of the night, leaving your bed and watching movies/tv is ok. I’d recommend turning on your amber light on your smartphone to reduce the risk of blue light exposure. Typically, watching shows on your TV isn’t a concern because the TV is at a distance that blue light is greatly reduced. However, if you remain relaxed and don’t have anxious thoughts when you wake, you can also remain in bed and get some rest. The concern is when you become anxious and remain in bed, our mind creates a conditioned arousal situation with our bed over time which is the reason it’s recommended you remove yourself from bed.
