For about 3 continuous months I slept for one to three hours a night, earlier this year. Things improved a bit: now I sleep about five to six hours a night. There is no obvious reason for my sleep problem, but unsurprisingly, I feel slow, foggy, ache-y and generally unwell in the daytime, and am afraid it’s here to stay. I’m a woman in my 60s and used to be energetic and interested in life’s activities, but gradually this is dwindling. I would like to know others’ experience of apparently inexplicable sleep deprivation.

are you going outside and getting enough outside exercise? is there anything in your diet like stimulants? are you eating enough? are you taking to much vitamin d? I would explore every facet of your life and what you do all day and see if the answer is not in there somewhere. you sound depressed and that can make it worse. Do some self reflection and see if you can find it.

Hello Poppy, and welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a bit more about your sleep at the current time? When do you normally go to bed at night, when do you get out of bed in the morning to start your day, and how much sleep do you get on a typical night?

When you go to bed, do you find it quite easy to fall asleep? Do you wake a lot during the night?
